Celebrating a birthday on Halloween.
Happy Halloween to all!
And happy birthday to my father who is celebrating his 74th birthday today! Yep, while the rest of the world is commemorating Halloween, our family is celebrating our father's birthday. There's every reason to celebrate as my father has reached this milestone in his life and he is blessed with good health, a healthy body and a sound mind. Not everybody is given the privilege to celebrate his or her 70th year on this earth much less the 74th so for this we are full of gratitude.
Happy birthday, Tatay!!!
Still on Halloween, if you’re wondering what the term Halloween means, I did a bit of research for you. According to Wikipedia, it is shortened from All Hallows' Even (both "even" and "eve" are abbreviations of "evening," but "Halloween" gets its "n" from "even") as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day," which is of course now also known as the All Saints' Day. It was a day of religious festivities in various northern European Pagan traditions.
The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.
So this is where this celebration originated… Again, happy Halloween to all!

Ooooooooohh
Ooooooooohh
Can you feel me
When I think about you
With every breath I take
Every minute
No matter what I do
My world is an empty place
Like I've been wonderin the desert
For a thousand days ( ohhuh )
Don't know if it's a mirage
But I always see your face, baby
I'm missing you so much
Can't help it, I'm in love
A day without you is like a year without rain
I need you by my side
Don't know how I'll survive
A day without you is like a year without rain
Ohhohoh, Woooaaahh woaahh
The stars are burning
I hear your voice in my mind ( it's in my mind )
Can't you hear me calling
My heart is yearning
Like the ocean that's running dry
Catch me I'm falling
It's like the ground is crumbling underneath my feet
Won't you save me
There's gonna be a monsoon
When you get back to me
Ohhhh baby
I'm missing you so much
Can't help it, I'm in love (love)
A day without you is like a year without rain
I need you by my side (side)
Don't know how I'll survive
A day without you is like a year without rain
Ohhohoh, Woooaaahh woaahh
So let this drought come to an end
And may this desert flower again
I'm so glad you found me
Stick around me
baby,baby,baby,whoaa
It's a world
No wonder
With you in my life
So Hurry baby, Don't waste no more time
And I need you here
I can't explain
But a day without you
Is like a year without rain
Ohhohoh
I'm missing you so much (much)
Can't help it, I'm in love
A day without you is like a year without rain
I need you by my side (side)
Don't know how I'll survive
A day without you is like a year without rain
Ohhohoh, Woooaaahh woaahh
Ooohh, Ooooooooouuhh

Sino pa bang hinihintay, ba't di pa tayo sumakay?
Excited na'kong umalis, sige na please, konting bilis
Saan ba tayo pupunta?, kahit saan, bahala na
Wala akong baong extra brief, pwedeng side B 'tas auto flip
Biglaan, wala nang oras pa na pagtaluhan
Gusto ko na kasi siyang kalimutan
Kaya't pakibilisan
Saan man tayo magpunta, walang sablay, sobrang saya
Kahit saan tayo mapadpad, basta may baon na lapad
Kailangan ko na munang mag-relax ng lalamunan
Tapos magpakalunod sa alak ang pusong pagod
Biglaan, biglaan niya na lang akong iniwan
Gusto ko lamang siyang makalimutan
Kaya nagkayayaan

Online Business Name Registration system unveiled.
One of the issues that President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino mentioned during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) was the seemingly endless process of business registration in the Philippines. An applicant used to make a few visits to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and other government agencies and had to endure long queues and wait for 4 to 8 hours just to register his business. He also needs to fill out eight pages of the application form.
It appears that this dilemma will soon be a thing of the past as the President unveiled yesterday a faster Business Name Registration System (eBNRS) at the DTI – National Capital Region Area 3 office in Mandaluyong City. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by Sec. Gregory Domingo demonstrated to President Aquino how they have expedited the formerly tedious process.
Under the new system, it will now take an applicant a maximum of 15 minutes and P300 to get a business name. And the eight page application form the applicants need to fill out has been reduced to one.
The purpose of the automation was to minimize the people handling the process and let technology speed up the transaction. Businessmen can now apply their registration names at the barangay level, and renewals are now done “automatically.”
I believe that this is a big step towards creating a business-friendly environment thus attracting foreign and local investments. This online business registration only shows the government’s commitment to the public by giving entrepreneurs less hassle in doing business. It also makes government transactions transparent which can help prevent corruption in the workplace.

A Run for the Pasig River makes history.
Whoever said that there’s no more hope for the Filipino people should think again. The success of the recently concluded “10.10.10 A Run for the Pasig River” is a proof that if Filipinos will unite, nothing is impossible.
The fun run, which aimed to create awareness and raise funds for the Pasig River cleanup campaign, made history and could also be the world’s biggest advocacy race with the number of race participants estimated at between 120,000 to 140,000 runners, according to Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP), the event organizer.
People from all walks of life showed unity as contingents from schools, religious groups, government agencies, the police and military, non-government organizations, business sector, and private institutions made up the enormous crowd that gathered at the run’s three starting points at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA), the CCP Complex, and Ayala Avenue in Makati.
They said that initial figures from SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV), the country’s biggest accounting firm, placed the total number of official race starters at 116,812 but once authenticated, it may break the Guinness World Record of 110,000 runners at the "Bay to Breakers" race in San Francisco, California in 1988.
KBPIP is hoping to raise between P10 million to P12 million from the event to finance cleanup at Estero de San Miguel, a tributary of the Pasig River.
In 2009, KBPIP began dredging operations and relocation of informal settlers at Estero De Paco, which also flows into the Pasig River.
ABS-CBN Foundation managing director Gina Lopez said that in order to successfully clean the river, people must first clean water that flows into it, and change the way people look at the river through events such as the 10.10.10 run.

10.10.10, A Special Day?
Today is the 10th day of the 10th month of 2010. The reason why this day has received quite a lot of attention is only because of the quirk of the date reading 10/10/10. At 10 minutes and 10 seconds past 10 in the morning today, the date and time even read 10.10.10.10.10.10. They said that this phenomenon will only happen again after 100 years. No wonder why there was even a rumor that a 10.10.10 virus will strike at 10 am today and will shut down all computers.
Another interesting fact about the month of October is that this month has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and Five Sundays. They said that this happens only once in 823 years, based on a text message that I received. They said that these are money bags in Chinese Fengshui.
Yes, some religious people and other cultures may associate these days to good luck, numerologists have their own interpretations of these numbers.
For me this is just another ordinary day. I guess the important thing is for us to live our lives to the fullest. Everyday is a gift so let’s treasure every day of our lives.
May this day be a fruitful and productive day for each one of us!

A lesson in blogging.
One thing that I’ve learned from my over two years of blogging is that it is a continuous learning experience. You learn new tricks and tips every step of the way which will help you improve on your craft. You can never claim that you have mastered this art. There’s always something to learn which will make a blogger’s journey more exciting.
One of the things that I learned from other bloggers is to get my own custom domain and get the services of a web host if I want to take blogging seriously especially if I want to monetize it or accept paid advertising. I was convinced that it was a necessary expense so I got myself a custom domain for one of my blogs.
However, the decision was not easy. I didn’t want to make mistakes and regret my decision mainly because I needed to shell out my hard-earned money for the web hosting service. So what I did first is I searched the web for all information related to web hosting. I compared different webhosts to make sure that I will get the best deal. I even checked the best hosting awards as this will reflect who among the existing web hosting providers have proven themselves by delivering exceptional services to their customers.
The good thing is there’s never a dearth of information in terms of the latest trends and articles about web hosting. I found various web hosting tutorials and articles that helped me a lot in deciding what web hosting provider really suits my blogging needs. These articles also gave me the much needed basic information about web hosting.
It’s been almost a year since I signed up for the web hosting service and I can bluntly say that I have no regrets. My web hosting provider is working as it should and I am satisfied with the service.
Just like any other activities that you want to get yourself into, you should make it a point to get acquainted with the basics of this endeavor first before you plunge yourself headfirst into it. It doesn’t hurt to study and plan your actions and options.

Below is the lyrics and a video of the number 2 song in the countdown, "Something 'Bout Love' by David Archuleta:
Every night it’s all the same
You’re frozen by the phone
You wait, something’s changed
You blame yourself every day
You’d do it again
Every night
There’s something ’bout love
That breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh
It sets you free
There’s something ’bout love
That tears you up
Whoa oh oh oh
You still believe
When the world falls down like the rain
It’ll bring you to your knees
There’s something ’bout love that breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh…
But don’t give up
There’s something ’bout love
When you were young
Scared of the night
Waiting for love to come along
And make it right
Your day will come, the past is gone
So take your time
And live and let live
There’s something ’bout love
That breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh
It sets you free
There’s something ’bout love
That tears you up
Whoa oh oh oh
You still believe
When the world falls down like the rain
It’ll bring you to your knees
There’s something ’bout love that breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh…
But don’t give up
There’s something ’bout love
Don’t fight
Don’t hide
Those stars in your eyes (in your eyes)
Let em’ shine tonight
Let em’ shine tonight
Hang on
Hang in
For the ride of your life
It’s gonna be alright
Hold on tight
There’s something ’bout love
That breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh
There’s something ’bout love
That breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh
It sets you free
There’s something ’bout love
That tears you up
Whoa oh oh oh
You still believe
When the world falls down like the rain
It’ll bring you to your knees (to your knees)
There’s something ’bout love that breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh…
But don’t give up
There’s something ’bout love
Whoa oh oh oh..
Set’s you free
There’s something bout love
That tears you up

Tracing people online
With the advent of the information technology, life has become a lot easier for all of us. You can now do shopping at the comfort of your home. Communication has become a lot faster and easier with the advent of chat and electronic mail as you can now communicate with friends and family members even if they are on the other side of the world. The popularity of social networking sites even raise the way people connect to another level. The Business landscape was also impacted by this technological advancement. You can now do business online, transact with your bank and exchange information with your customers or clients. These things were unimaginable in the past.
As if these things are not enough, recently I learned that you can now even search for people online. I’m not referring to Facebook or any networking sites where I found some of my long lost friends and relatives. What I am referring to are professional genealogy firms which are specializing in locating people including missing and unknown heirs, relatives even with no known next of kin. These are especially helpful to lawyers and trustees who are often faced with the formidable task to trace people and locate missing beneficiaries. One of these probate genealogy firm is a London-based Finders which has been in the business since 1997. This firm is dedicated to give a fresh approach to finding missing people.
