Graphics for New Years Comments

Yes, today is the last day of 2008! When I came out of the office this afternoon, I was welcome with a light rain and it is still drizzling while I’m writing this post. I took it as a good sign, an omen, that the New Year will be a better one for all of us. Yes, you can take it the other way but if there’s one thing that this year can assure us all, it is HOPE. Hope that we can see the realization of whatever dreams and goals that we have for our lives. Hope that whatever mistakes and transgressions we have committed in the past can be rectified in the coming year. Let us welcome the coming year with our hearts full of hope.

May we all have a safe and prosperous 2009!

January 2 declared a holiday in the Philippines

As part of the Arroyo administration’s “holiday economics”, the Office of the President on Wednesday declared January 2, 2009 as a non-working holiday.
Proclamation No. 1695, signed by President Arroyo Wednesday, described January 2 as "additional special (non-working) day throughout the country."

The president said that the longer weekend "encourages families to get together and strengthen their relationship towards a more productive environment, as well as promotes domestic tourism and enables employers to plan their work schedules effectively and efficiently, resulting in improved productivity."

January 2 is sandwiched between New Year's Day and a Saturday, a holiday.
The announcement means that workers will return to work on January 5, instead of January 2. All financial markets will reopen on January 5 after an 11-day holiday that starts on Christmas day, December 25.

This is good news for employees who plan to go out of town but some business firms have been complaining of higher labor costs caused by holiday economics. However, for call center agents like me, this will have not much impact. I still need to report to work on January 2:(

Pacman is WBC's Boxer of the Year

Just a short post about Manny Pacquiao. The Philippines' Pambansang Kamao continues to gain accolades for the country after being voted the World Boxing Council's Boxer of the Year for 2008.

Pacquiao won the WBC super featherweight world title by decision against defending champion Juan Manuel Marquez in March, then won the WBC lightweight world title by TKO against defending champion David Diaz three months later in June.

He finished the year with a sensational TKO win against Oscar De La Hoya in the welterweight division earlier this month.

Blogging Breather.

It’s been nine days since my last post. It’s just that I have been incredibly busy lately and I can’t find myself writing about anything. I would like to apologize to all fellow bloggers if in case I have not been able to return your visits. Likewise, to those who have been dropping their Entrecards on this blog. I’ll promise to make up for it next time. I also would like to thank those who keep on visiting my blog, you just don’t know how this means to me.

As you well know, I have a regular job and squeezing time to blog has been a Herculean task for me in the last few months. It would have been easier if my regular job could keep me away from a computer, sadly this is not the case. I have to be in front of my computer monitor for the entire 8 hours or so that I spent in the office. Dragging my feet in front of my personal computer at home for another half an hour to update my blog after a stressful day at work is a real hard work.

Honestly, the drive to keep on blogging has been waning. I have been trying my best given the ample time that I can spend on blogging to come up with a decent traffic and Alexa rating to this site and I can say that I’m pretty contented with what I’ve achieved so far. However, Google page rank is a different story. It’s been 2 or 3 months now that my page rank is zero and I’m not positive that this will change in the coming days. The page rank 3 that this blog used to have is now very elusive. Anyway, my other blog still has Pagerank 3.

Well, that’s life. You can’t have them all. The important thing is we didn’t lose our focus and continue striving for our goals.

Pacquiao and politics.

Still on Manny Pacquiao’s victory over 10-time world boxing champion Oscar Dela Hoya. Politicians are again scurrying to get a piece of the Pacman’s victory and popularity to earn media mileage. Not an unusual scenario.

The President, reportedly will give Pacquiao the new title "Ambassador of Peace" when he returns to the country on Wednesday. A senator has even filed a Senate resolution declaring Manny as the "Greatest Filipino Boxer of All Time."

However, what struck my attention was the report from the abs-cbnnews.com that it was confirmed that Pacquiao has been offered (again!) to run for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Reports said that Quezon City 2nd district Rep. Annie Rosa Susano asked the boxer to run for the seat she will vacate in 2010. The congresswoman even reportedly offered her Novaliches residence to Pacquiao so the boxing champ can establish residence in the district, one of the election requirements.

Susano said the 29-year-old General Santos native will be endorsed by Lakas-CMD and the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (KAMPI).

She said that although the boxer will make his final decision when he comes back from the US, he is likely inclined to accept the offer.

It can be remembered that Pacquiao’s first foray to politics in 2007 turned out to be a disaster. He was easily defeated by incumbent Darlene Antonino-Custodio when they both ran for a congressional seat to represent the 1st district of South Cotabato.

Manny Pacquiao’s victory.

Every Filipino blogger has something to say about Manny Pacquiao’s victory over Oscar Dela Hoya in the fight dubbed as “The Dream Match” yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against them; even the peanut vendor or the bus conductor I came across on my trip to Bulacan yesterday have something to say about this fight.

I don’t want to be left behind and betray this blog’s slogan (celebrating Filipino pride…) Manny Pacquiao indeed is a Filipino pride and he deserves the accolades that he is getting. He has given every Filipino something to be proud of after his 8th round TKO of the Golden Boy.

I will reserve my own sentiments on Manny Pacquiao’s victory on my next posts. The post-fight analysis of the peanut vendor and the bus conductor that I overheard yesterday was more amusing.

The bus conductor said that Dela Hoya lost because of the age and weight loss factor. He simply can not keep up with the speed and agility of the Filipino boxing hero. Pacquiao controlled the fight, and dominated his opponent on every round. In his own words: “Matanda na kasi e, mahina na… hindi umubra sa bilis ni Pacman.”

The peanut vendor, however, has a different point of view. He said that it looks like Dela Hoya deliberately lost the fight. He said that he saw the glory days of this Mexican boxer and the Golden boy he saw action yesterday was too far from the usual caliber of Dela Hoya. “Pera-pera lang yan, halata namang ibinenta e, halos hindi tumatama ang mga suntok ni Dela Hoya,” the peanut vendor said with such gusto that his false teeth almost fell off his peanuts.

For whatever’s worth, the lackluster performance of Oscar Dela Hoya should not belittle Manny Pacquaio’s triumph. He definitely trained and prepared for the fight and he came out victorious. I have my own misgivings about his victory but he is the man of the hour, I don’t want to take that away from him… Mabuhay ka, PacMan!

Holiday Eyeglass Frame

Compared to other accessories that one might be able to live without, eyeglasses are essential and must be replaced urgently. Both of my parents can’t live without their eyeglasses so I’m looking at buying spare eyeglasses as gifts for them this holiday season.

However, in order to get the perfect set of spectacles, some would prefer the services of a professional optician. But their services can be costly. Even a modest pair of glasses could cost you anywhere from two hundred to five hundred dollars. A better alternative is to shop online.

Zenni Optical offers a wide range of Holiday frames with elegant styles for very affordable prices.

If you want to get your money’s worth on stylish new frames for this holiday season, check out Zenni Holiday Eyeglass frames. You can order your new eyeglass frame online now!

'Twilight' the movie rakes in $7M at packed midnight movies.

A couple of days ago, I posted about this much-awaited movie. Based on reports, the movie “Twilight” sucked in more than $7 million at U.S. box offices from its first midnight showings. This is a strong take for the highly anticipated film.
The movie from Summit Entertainment, opened on Thursday at midnight and will play in more than 3,000 theaters over the weekend.

The film is based on a book series of the same name by author Stephenie Meyer that have become wildly popular with teenage girls, who lined up outside theaters to see the movie.

The film stars Robert Pattinson as an immortal vampire named Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, the teen girl who falls in love with him. Their star-crossed love affair is jeopardized by another vampire's lust for blood.
"Clearly it wasn't all hype," said Brandon Gray, president of tracking firm Box Office Mojo.

"To have over $7 million from midnight/early Friday screenings suggests there's a sizable audience for 'Twilight' and that it's going to have a huge weekend," he said.
But critics have been split on the film, with review aggregating Web site Rottentomatoes.com on Friday evening giving the film a rating of 43 percent based on 118 reviews.

In a positive review, Los Angeles Times critic Kenneth Turan wrote, "I am not now nor have I ever been a 13-year-old girl, but 'Twilight' made me wish I could be, at least for a couple of hours, the better to appreciate a movie that has been targeted to that demographic with the delicious specificity of a laser weapon."

On a more negative note, Christian Orr of the magazine The New Republic wrote that the film was "underwhelming" for anyone except teen girls.

The Flat Belly Diet.

I’m one of the many people who are dreaming of six pack abs; it looks good, don't you think? However, not everybody have all the time in the world to spend working out on gyms. Some are just too stressed out and tired working at the office to go to the gym. This is the reason why I became interested when I heard about the Flat Belly Diet. It was developed by the editor of Prevention Magazine which is centered on a new research that discovered that eating healthy fats or MUFAs (MonoUnsaturated Fatty Acid) with every meal, which are supposed to fill you up and satisfy your cravings for fat.

It is a "painless" way to lose weight without hunger pains and no exercises required (although they do point out that you'll get better and faster results if you do). There are even plenty of inspirational before-and-after stories of people who have tried the program on the internet.

If this is the program that you’re looking for, Prevention magazine is still looking for a select group of women who would like to try the Flat Belly Diet for free. Visit their website for more information.

Friendster problem.

I’m not a very big fan of the social networking site but I do have an account and a couple of friends. Donna, however, is a regular user. She updates her profile almost daily and she has hundreds of friends in her network.

It has been a few days now that we were not able to log in to our accounts owing to the site’s maintenance. Yesterday, we managed to get the homepage up and we were able to log in. There’s still an error message coming up but, yeah, we were able to view our profiles. Suddenly, Donna noticed something; her hundreds of friends are no longer on her friend’s list! I took it lightly, cracking a joke that in times of needs, most friends are hard to find. I log in to my account and experienced the same problem, my hundreds of friends… (lol… okay, that’s not true… I only had about 30 or so friends.) were reduced to just seven. At least, I still have friends left.

Donna was very disappointed, some of her friends, used this network to keep in touch, especially those that are overseas. Well, we all experienced setbacks. Friendster, no matter how big a company has its share of problems. We can just hope that they can fix this in due time.

However, I received this text message from a friend who received it from another friend. As this is the case, we cannot guarantee that this information is true. We don’t have a way of verifying the veracity of this information let alone check if the source is credible. Here is the text message:

Please be advised that Friendster has suffered a great damage on their site as a computer named h4xor-nytmare had infiltrated their database. Please do not log in your accounts or add friends for the time being for the team is currently recovering the losses that were inflicted. Please spread.

Obama on Outsourcing.

I originally posted this on my new blog which is still on its infancy. The blog is dedicated to call center life but i have not yet find the time to fully promote the blog so I decided to repost my thoughts on this subject here for the benefit of my regular visitors.

Everybody is talking about the recently concluded US Presidential election. Every blogger has something to say about this and I don’t have anything against the topic. First, we have just witnessed the historic election of the first US President of mixed African-American descent. Second, America has a brand new hope that the future will still be promising.

I don’t have anything against Barack Obama either. If I am living in the US, I would probably vote for him too. But I’m living in a country where the US has a huge influence and I also work on an American BPO company. The thing is, not everything good that will happen in the US will have positive impacts to countries with close ties with this country.

I couldn’t help but to worry when I heard of the tough stand of Obama about outsourcing. Even during the campaigns, he is quite vocal about his stand about companies who send jobs abroad. He is against it. He said that the choice is between giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas or give benefit to those companies that keep jobs domestically.

We can’t blame people worrying that with Obama at the helm, the slow and untimely death of the BPO industry in the Philippines and the rest of Asia is certain.
However, if we will consider the current global economic crisis, there is a big chance that the new US president may take a more practical stand on this issue. He will need to face the fact that in order to survive, American companies will have to outsource. The cheap labor cost overseas is the reason why some of these companies are still in business. And if these companies are not making money, they can not contribute to the federal economy. And if the economy is unstable, there will be no resources to fuel the “changes” that Obama plans to enforce.

Hopefully, they could come up with a win-win situation on this. But we can just wait and see….

Advantages of blog advertising.

I have been blogging for about six months now and I have witnessed how wide the scope of the blogosphere. It is global. No wonder why many companies and advertisers resort to blog advertising. They simply want to penetrate a global market. Unlike advertising on newspapers or televisions, your ad on blogs is in circulation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is more likely to reached your targeted audience anywhere in the world.

Blog advertising is less expensive, thus, it makes good financial sense, it reaches a greater number of people, and it gives people a lot more information than a traditional advertisement.

This is what makes directory of blogs like Payingpost.com so popular. Many advertisers are looking for blogs that can create buzz about their companies or products. Unlike some blog directory website, Payingpost.com has strict guidelines to be met before any blogs are accepted into their bloggers network. They also emphasized quality writing among their bloggers. This site simply made it easier for advertisers to weed out the not so popular blogs among the best and the most popular blogs on the internet today.

So if you’re an advertiser looking for ways to reach your targeted audience, don’t waste your time on other avenues, visit their website now and try blog advertising!

Twilight the movie.

I was looking for an interesting movie that will be shown in the country in the coming days when I stumbled upon this film from Summit Entertainment. The Twilight movie is based on the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. The movie is set to be shown on November 21 in Metro manila. I haven’t read the novel yet but I have friends who are addicted to the series. Here is the synopsis of the movie from the movie’s official website:

Twilight is an action-packed, modern-day love story between a teenage girl and a vampire. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different, never caring about or fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarries and decides to move with her new husband to Florida, and Bella decides to go live with her father, Charlie (Billy Burke), in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she's ever met. Intelligent and witty, his piercing eyes see straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than any cheetah, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Most importantly, he's a vampire. Like all vampires, he's immortal. But he doesn't have fangs, and he doesn't drink human blood (they're vampire "vegetarians"), which is rare among the vampire population. Instead, they go on regular "hiking" trips, where they feed on prey such as grizzly bears and mountain lions. For Edward, Bella is the thing he has waited ninety years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. And what will they do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachel Lefevre) come into town and James sets his sights on Bella? Will true love prevail when Edward is forced to save her life and conquer his thirst? The true question is, When you can live forever, what do you live for?

Miss Philippines won the Miss Earth 2008 crown.

Karla Paula Henry of the Philippines bested 84 other contestants from all over the world to win this year’s Miss Earth crown during the coronation night held at the Clark Expo, Pampanga Sunday evening.

Henry also won the Miss Earth Designers Award and Miss Photogenic special award. She will succeed Canada's Jessica Trisko, Miss Earth 2007.

In the question and answer round, the final four contestants were asked what they would tell US president-elect Barack Obama about the state of the global environment if ever they were to meet. Henry responded by saying she would encourage Obama to implement environmental knowledge in the curriculum of schools not just in the US, but also in the Philippines.

"Environmental knowledge is something that all of us must share, but most importantly we must teach the youth that this is something that we should instill in them so that in the near future they will be the ones to take care of our mother Earth," she said.

Other winners are Miss Tanzania, Miriam Odemba, Miss Earth Air (1st runner-up); Miss Mexico, Abigail Elizalde, Miss Earth Water (2nd runner-up), and Miss Brazil Tatiane Alves won Miss Earth Fire (3rd runner-up).

Billy Crawford, Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles, and Miss Earth Canada 2006 Riza Santos hosted the coronation night.

Miss Earth is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to participate in the world finals. The participants themselves are involved with environmental causes.

Three months without a cell phone!

Gone are the days when cell phones are considered luxuries in life; they are now necessities. No wonder why even the Taho vendor in our office and my nephew who is just an elementary school student has this device.

But for three months, I was able to do an unthinkable feat in this age of technological advancement. While other call center employees like me are raving about the latest cellphone models, iphones or gadgets, I don’t even have a cell phone. And that has been for three months.... I’m not trying to prove something and I didn’t do it deliberately. My cell phone was taken by a robber when we had a break in in my apartment and as if it was not enough, I was also held up in a public vehicle after several weeks.

These unfortunate events have led to my decision not to buy another cell phone, which is not really hard as I don’t get to bring my cell phone inside the office anyway. Besides, I don’t need to worry about cellphone bills. Surprisingly, I can even focus more on what I was doing without interruptions from a cellphone ringing or a text message received.

While I have to admit that the advantages of having a cell phone outweighs the disadvantages, especially during these times when we need constant communication. A simple phone call or a text message from our loved one can give us an assurance that they are safe and there’s nothing to worry about. And peace of mind is simply priceless.

However, the past three months only proves that cell phones are something that we can live without.

Well, a couple of days ago, I acquired a new cell phone. It is not one of the classy and expensive models but a lot better than without one. I am just so happy to have something that I missed for a long time…

A Great Investment Opportunity.

Hotel-view01-old
Everyone is worried about the worsening state of the country’s economy and I believe it is a valid reason. However, this should not stop us from fulfilling our dreams and preparing for a brighter future for our family. The current economic state should not deter us from investing in worthwhile ventures. As long as we know where to put our money, then we should be in the right track.

Happy Halloween!!

Yes, happy Halloween to all!!! I usually just let this day pass unnoticed and uncelebrated as I can not find a real reason to celebrate this day. However, this year is different. A couple of days before Halloween, our workstations were already decorated for this occasion. Even at the office, children of some employees are trick-or-treating, you can also see children wearing various costumes even in the mall. Well, while I still cannot see a real reason for celebration for this day, I also can not see anything wrong with it aside from the fact that this originated from a pagan feast.

If you’re wondering what the term Halloween means, I did a bit of research for you. According to Wikipedia, it is shortened from All Hallows' Even (both "even" and "eve" are abbreviations of "evening," but "Halloween" gets its "n" from "even") as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day," which is of course now also known as the All Saints' Day. It was a day of religious festivities in various northern European Pagan traditions.

The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

So this is where this celebration originated… Again, happy Halloween to all!

Save Money on Eyeglasses.

Unlike any other accessories that one might be able to live without; eyeglasses are absolutely vital and must be replaced immediately. Since both of my parents can’t live without their eyeglasses, I’m looking at buying spare eyeglasses for them.

In order to get the perfect set of spectacles, some would prefer the services of a professional optician. However, their services can be costly. Even a modest pair of glasses could cost you anywhere from two hundred to five hundred dollars. A better alternative is to shop online. Instead of two hundred dollars, eyeglasses can be purchase for as low as $8. Yes, you read it right; you can get eyeglasses for just $8.

No wonder, Zenni Optical was featured on the Chicago Tribune! They offer a wide range of frame styles, using a prescription filled by an optometrist or ophthalmologist for very affordable prices.

If you want to get your money’s worth on stylish new frames, check out Zenni Optical Eyeglasses. You can order your new eyeglasses online now!

No More Music Downloads Here….

Yes, there are no more downloadable songs in this blog. I deliberately remove all of them after receiving a notification early this morning from Blogger that they were notified that certain content in this blog infringes upon the copyrights of others. Well, I have no problems with that; I can be as obedient as a lamb.

I have always maintained that putting those songs in this blog are just for promotional purposes and I have always encouraged my readers to buy the real thing. I just want to share new things to the visitors of this blog, I have more to offer than those downloadable music that you can get anyway from any other website or blog.

I don’t know if I have to worry or be proud that somehow this blog is getting attention…

Below is a part of the email that I received:

Blogger has been notified, according to the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that certain content in your blog infringes upon the copyrights of others. The URL(s) of the allegedly infringing post(s) may be found at the end of this message.

Another new look.

It was exactly a month ago when I decided to change the layout of this blog. I spent tedious hours then working on the new template and I felt good about it when I finally saw the finished work.

However, I encountered issues with that template. At first it would load perfectly in Mozilla browsers but when I try to open it on an Internet Explorer browser, I was surprised to see that the page is messed up. I also had a hard time working on the template as it will not allow me to access the page elements just like in my original template. I had to work on the html codes when I need to add a new link or a new widget. It was so inconvenient and time-consuming.

It was with the latter template as well that I got slapped with the zero page rank by Google. So as much as I want to keep it, I had to look for another one.

On impulse, I decided to change the template again. I saw this template from Blogger Templates and I thought I could easily tweak it to suit what I want for my blog.

So, here is the finished work… I just hope that I can keep this new layout for a long time.:)

"My Only U" movie trailer.

As part of Star Cinemas’ 15th anniversary presentation, actor-comedian Vhong Navarro and actress-singer Toni Gonzaga are back together in the drama-comedy movie "My Only U."

The two who had been considered as one of the country's successful big-screen team up after their successful movie “D Anothers” expressed their excitement for this upcoming film that moviegoers will surely love.

My Pagerank has dropped to zero!!!

I was surprised last Tuesday when I received an email message informing me that one of my sponsored posts on this site was rejected because the advertiser requires a blog with a Google Pagerank of 3 or higher.

I thought that this was just a joke because the last time I checked, and that was just a few days ago, my Pagerank is still 3. At least that was what the green bar was telling me. I was about to reply to the email and appeal but I decided to double-check this site first. When I visited this blog, the Google toolbar still has the pagerank 3 but the meter in the web page from toolser.com registered a 0 pagerank. It was inconsistent so I tried refreshing the page, even deleting the cache and cookies just to make sure. Well, I was able to confirm that Google has really slapped me with a 0 pagerank.

It occurred to me before that this could happen since I started to write sponsored posts. And if you are a regular visitor, you may have noticed the growing number of sponsored postings on this blog. I deliberately removed widgets from payperpost and other companies to avoid Google from noticing me. It was proven to be ineffective. It was just a few months ago when Google also disabled my Adsense account right after I reached the payout because of invalid clicks. It seems that the big G is making it harder for bloggers to earn money online. But it can’t stop me.

My only consolation is my other blog, the Kapamilya Corner, has maintained its Pagerank 3 and it is getting good traffic. Another consolation is the fact that when you’re on the bottom, zero that is, there’s no other place to go but up....

Happy Anniversary!

This is something personal. Forgive me if I you think it’s cheesy to put my feelings into these pages but for this special day, I find myself obligated. And what the heck, this is my blog! I can write what I want… lol.

I have always been the one who forgot important dates, birthdays of friends and relatives and of course, monthsarys. But this is a date that I will never forget; Donna and I are celebrating our first year anniversary! Look, how time flies. I never thought that when I first laid eyes on her I would be looking at my future. Now, I can no longer imagine spending my life with somebody else…

We’ve been together for 12 months and I never even bought her a single flower. What a shame. The same thing as I was never vocal about how I appreciate the things that she’s done for me. We are together everyday but its funny how important words were never uttered. I never told her how special she is; I just assumed she already knows that. I never told her how she means to me… the truth is, she is my world. And I would gladly grow old with her...

Baguio City aims for Guinness record with largest gathering of golfers

The country’s summer capital, Baguio City is just one golf tournament away from winning a Guinness World Record as the historic Camp John Hay and the Baguio Country Club hope to gather the biggest number of golfers in a single event for the 59th annual Fil-Am International Golf Tournament starting November 19.

While some 1,200 golfers participated in last year's golf tournament, this year's event which will end in December 6 is expected to draw a far larger crowd, which according to locals, is a welcome boost to Baguio's tourism industry.

It is said that the Fil-Am tournament held the most number of players in one tournament that was consecutively played for two weeks thus the "longest and largest" in the amateur class.

Meanwhile, police are determined to make it certain that the event stays perfect for the tee-off, especially with the sizeable crowd expected to attend the event. They will give maximum security for the visitors. They have more than 400 policemen, and they expect to deploy one-third of them.

Phone Number Reporting

Imagine that you’re in the middle of a deep sleep after a grueling day at work when suddenly the phone rings, thinking it’s an important call, you pick up the phone just to find out that nobody is on the other line. It could be debt collectors, telemarketers, a phone survey company, maybe just a wrong number or a prank caller.

Now you can find out who is calling. You can now read submitted comments and post your own research or opinion on a given telephone number. It’s called phone number reporting. You can let other people know what to expect from that telephone number. You can also benefit from reading comments from other people who have researched on given telephone numbers.

Stephen King’s “The Shining” e-book.

The Shining is a horror novel by American author Stephen King. It was King's third published novel, and first hardback bestseller, and the success of the book firmly established King as a preeminent author in the horror genre.

In 1977, The Shining was the first widely read novel to confront alcoholism and child abuse in baby-boomer families--especially the way alcoholism, a will toward failure in one's work, and abusing one's kids are passed down from generation to generation. The heart of the book is not an evil hotel but a pair of father-son relationships: Jack and his father, Jack and his son. This was both daring and insightful for its time, long before "dysfunctional family" was a cliché.

A film based upon the book, The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick, was released in 1980. The book was later adapted into a television mini-series in 1997.

If you have not yet read this book, you can click on the link below to download a free e-book. However, this is just for review and promotional purposes, if you like the book you owe it to yourself to buy the paperback. It’s that valuable.

Dental Liability

We don’t read about dental malpractice as often as medical malpractice, but it does happen. While death during a dental procedure is very rare, there have been reported cases of this occurrence.

So if there is medical malpractice insurance available, it is logical to also have dental liability insurance. Because you’ll never know what the future holds. You surely don’t want to regret not investing in an insurance to protect you in the future.

However, when choosing insurance, you should consider the experience and credibility of the company. One company that offers dental malpractice insurance is Eastern Dentists Insurance Company, (EDIC). It is a company run by dentist so they know and understand how to protect the best interest of dentists.

I especially liked their Lunch-n-Learn Program that helps people to learn from real life dental malpractice cases. EDIC sponsors and hosts this important Lunch-n-Learn series for dental students on real-life dental malpractice cases.

After each case, a discussion follows, providing the audience a chance to discuss the risk management issues involved in each dental liability case. Then, the audience acts as a jury, reaching a verdict on the dental liability insurance case, and awards a judgment, along with a monetary judgment. The audience is then given the real life verdicts and awards.

At the conclusion of the seminar, attendees should learned how errors in record keeping, diagnosis, and treatment planning will affect the claims handling and legal process, and the cost in terms of judgments rendered against dentists through the discussion of real life dental malpractice case examples. Visit their website for more information about their services.

Period of Adjustment

It’s been two weeks now since I was promoted to my current position. I’m still adjusting to the new job. I won’t say that it’s hard, because I know I can do it and I have been doing this before. But it’s different and I need some time to get used to it.

I usually just take calls, answer customer’s queries from another part of the world until my time is up to go home. Now, I need to finish all the reports and send it to our Head office overseas. I still take calls and I think it’s a good thing as pure office works bore me to death.

One thing that I need to improve on however, is on how fast I will finish a particular report. I’m quite meticulous when it comes to creating reports or even when just composing an email. I will not send it until I’m sure that it is free from spelling or grammatical errors but there are some that still escapes me. I often cringe at the sight of a grammatical or spelling error from my emails but what can I do. Once it’s done, it’s done.

Well, I know that in time I will be able to fully adjust to this new job. I don’t have a choice anyway…

Locate Florida Child Molesters.

Criminals including child molesters are everywhere. This is not to scare you but this is a fact. I too, as a family-oriented person, worry too much on the safety of my family especially during these times when it seems that nobody is safe from criminals. Preserving our families and protecting our family members especially children are at the top of the list on many people’s priorities.

The evening news can attest to how criminals are just everywhere, and this include child molesters. However, it seems that the government can not guarantee our safety from these bad elements of society. As the law enforcers are trying to tackle this critical issue, we can do our share to protect our family by keeping our vigilance and awareness.

If you are in Florida, you can find out if there are Florida Child Molesters in your neighborhood by going through the list in registeredchildmolesterlist.org. You will be able to access the up to date list of child molesters on this website. Remember that awareness can keep your family safe.

However, it seems that the government can not guarantee our safety from these bad elements of society. As the law enforcers are trying to tackle this critical issue, we can do our share to protect our family by keeping our vigilance and awareness. Megan’s Law was enacted to prevent sex related crimes in your area. You can find out if there are sexual predators in your neighborhood by going through the list of sex offenders in nationalsexoffenderlist.org. You will be able to access the up to date list of sexual offenders in the US on this website and you can also get email alerts when a sex offender moves into your neighborhood. You can subscribe now and be aware of the danger that may exist in your area.

Remember that awareness can keep your family safe.
