It’s the Miss Universe season once again. Like many people around the world, Filipinos stay tuned to watch the Miss Universe Pageant last Monday. Although the Filipina beauty Pamela Bianca Manalo failed to enter the Top 15 (surprisingly, no Asian candidate was on the list) the show was a celebration of beauty after all and it was a fun show to watch.
While browsing the internet, I came across a couple of information about the Philippine’s participation in the most celebrated beauty pageant.
The Philippines already won 2 Miss Universe title: Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margarita Moran in 1973.
The Philippines has won the most Miss Photogenic award having won seven times (including a back-to-back and a three-peat).
Gloria Díaz, the first Filipina to win the Miss Universe title was only eighteen when she became Miss Universe of 1969 after outsmarting other candidates on the question on how to welcome the first men that had just landed on the moon as soon as they were back on the planet.
Margarita Moran was a full-time university student and part-time model won the Miss Universe crown in 1973 in Athens, Greece. She is a granddaughter of former Philippine President Manuel Roxas. She said that she entered the contest because of the incessant urgings of friends and family.
Margarita Moran (Philippines, 1973) is one of the four Miss Universe winners who were also awarded Miss Photogenic.

Interesting.Where have I been that I didn't know that Margie Moran is a granddaughter of former Pres Manuel Roxas? And it would be very interesting to know Gloria Diaz's award-winning answer hehehe.
sayang talaga si Ms. Manalo. haay, next year! next year! may chance pa!
They are all so beautiful indeed.
