The Value of Work

We only realize the value of something once we’ve lost it. Even to our friends and family, we only appreciate their value in our lives once they are no longer with us. We take them for granted. We profess our love for our family and yet we choose other trivial things over them.

And look at how some people value their jobs. They go to great lengths finding a decent job that will provide for their family and their lifestyle. And yet, once they get hired, they started to take it for granted. If only their jobs can speak.

Here is a short article from the Carnegian Report and was published by Fr. Frank Mihalic’s collection of stories:

You say you love me, but sometimes you don’t show it. In the beginning, you couldn’t do enough for me. Now, you seem to take me for granted. Some days I even wonder if I mean anything at all to you.

Maybe when I’m gone, you’ll appreciate me and all the things I do for you. I’m responsible for getting the food on your table, for your clean shirt, for the welfare of your children… a thousand and one thing you want and need. Why if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t even have a car.

I’ve kept quiet and waited to see how long it would take for you to realize how much you really need me.

Cherish me, take care of me and I’ll continue to take good care of you.

Who am I? I am your JOB.

The Avengers movie experience

I entered the theater showing The Avengers last Wednesday without any expectations. I wanted to relax and enjoy the movie, that's all. And enjoy, I did. I actually had fun watching the movie for the last two hours and twenty minutes. I laughed at the quick-witted dialogues of Robert Downey Jr. (playing Ironman) and Mark Ruffalo (now playing The Hulk). I guffawed on the unexpected comic relief provided by the characters. And after the screening, I saw myself applauding together with the other viewers who were entertained on what I think was one of the best Marvel movies ever created.

It was the first time that I have dared to watch a movie on its first day of showing. As expected, there was a long queue at the ticketing booth although almost all the cinemas were showing the same movie.

The story started pretty slow, the build-up was a bit dreary on the first half. But the plot thickens on the second half.

Okay, so the story goes like this. SHIELD, the secret military intelligence agency headed by Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson) was experimenting on a cosmic cube called Tessarect when it suddenly became unstable. While Fury and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner, yes, The Bourne Legacy star) are trying to figure out the problem, the Tessarect opens a portal out of which appears Thor’s half-brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Loki escapes with the Tessarect and destroyed the SHIELD headquarters. He even put a spell on Hawkeye and some scientists to control them and help him open a portal to usher his evil army on Earth.

Out of options, Fury decides to get his Avengers plan into action by assembling some of the most remarkable superheroes on Earth to save the day. It turns out that Black Window (Scarlett Johansson) is on a Russian mission and Bruce Banner (now being played by Mark Ruffalo) is in Calcutta. Captain America (Chris Evans) was just recently revived from the frozen state that he was in. Ironman and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are minding their own business.

How will Fury convince these egocentric heroes to fight for his cause? Will the heroes manage to put aside their differences and work together? Of course, you will have to watch the film to know the answers these questions.

Credit should go to the brilliance of the director Josh Whedon and the scriptwriters for putting these super heroes in this film together. And they did a fantastic job in making sure that the heroes are given equal screen space and smart dialogues. All the heroes were given enough importance and highlights, even the characters who have not yet starred in a solo movie like Black Widow and Hawkeye were given a backstory to reckon with.

The dialogues are quick-witted and funny which is a relief especially when watching a movie pulsating with action and excitement such as this. Not only the dialogues, but some of the actions and sequences are funny.

Did I already mention that the film's special effects are splendid? Well, expect a lot of the cinematic effects that may just blow your mind. Buildings being leveled to the ground, smacking action sequences. There’s a lot of destruction in this movie and some are even on the busy streets of Manhattan. It's like watching the last installment of “The Transformers” but this time with superheroes not robots saving the day. There was one particular scene that became indelible in my mind, when all the heroes shared the same frame posing for battle. It was a scene that you'll probably won't see for a long time.

The actors all played well. Ruffalo was a revelation playing the hulk effortlessly. Downey Jr. added a little humor and depth to the character of Ironman. Evans and Helmsworth are also okay.

However, don't expect anything great about the plot. There's really nothing more that you can do about it. There also scenes and sequences which seem forced like the special moments between Hawkeye and Black Widow. Nonetheless, all of these added color and depth to the story.

Watch or Not? This is definitely a must-see movie for all action and comic book fanatics. If you just need to enjoy, relax and watch a good movie, then you'll never go wrong with this one. Don't miss this epic action extravaganza!

Filipina Janitress turns over P1.2M found at the airport

About two weeks ago, I posted on this blog an exemplary deed of a Baguio cab driver who returned P340k that was left in his taxi by a Canadian citizen. I have never doubted the inherent goodness in the hearts of the Filipino people despite all the hardships that we’re going through. Filipinos do good and heroic things every day without expecting recognition or 15 minutes of fame. It is even unfortunate that some media organizations glorify negative publicity.

Another news article from the abs-cbnnews.com captured my attention this morning. It is another testament to the Filipinos inherent goodness. The news is about a 32-year-old janitress working at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 who surrendered an estimated P1.2 million worth of foreign currency left by a passenger.

Based on the report, the name of the janitress is Mary Jane Doroga. She was cleaning the Customs arrival area at NAIA Terminal 1 when she found a transparent plastic pouch containing a wallet and several pieces of foreign bills. She immediately sought help of the duty customs supervisor, Ric Dizon, to help identify the owner. Then after waiting for more than 30 minutes, they decided to turn over the money to the lost and found section of the airport.

Airport authorities estimated the value of the case at P1.2 million.

The report added: “Doroga admitted that she has financial problems. She is only paid a minimum salary of P400 per pay day but it never crossed her mind to keep the money for herself.”

The pouch has yet to be claimed by its owner and is now in the custody of airport police.

This exemplary display of honesty and dedication should be recognized and commended by the airport officials.

Gotta Be You Lyrics

Girl I see it in your eyes you're disappointed
'Cause I'm the foolish one that you anointed with your heart
I tore it apart
And girl what a mess I made upon your innocence
And no woman in the world deserves this
But here I am, asking you for one more chance

Can we fall, one more time?
Stop the tape and rewind
Oh and if you walk away I know I'll fade
'Cause there is nobody else

It's gotta be you
Only you
It's got to be you
Oh, Only you

Now girl I hear it in your voice and how it trembles
When you speak to me I don't resemble, who I was
You've almost had enough
And your actions speak louder than words
And you're about to break from all you've heard
Don't be scared, I ain't going no where

I'll be here, by your side
No more fears, no more crying
But if you walk away
I know I'll fade
'Cause there is nobody else

It's gotta be you
Only you
It's got to be you
Oh, Only you

Oh girl, can we try one more, one more time?
One more, one more, can we try?
One more, one more time
I'll make it better
[All, Zayn leading voice]
One more, one more, can we try?
One more, one more,
Can we try one more time to make it all better?

'Cause it's gotta be you
Its gotta be you
Only you
Oh, Only you

It's gotta be you
Only you
It's got to be you
Oh, Only you

Pacquiao Ranks 4th in Forbes’s List of America’s Most Influential Athlete

Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao ranked fourth in this year’s Forbes' list of America’s Most Influential Athletes.

Pacquiao is the only boxer on the list. Forbes said about Pacquiao: “Likeable boxing champ is a king among the Philippine population. The contrast with boxing “bad guy” Floyd Mayweather doesn’t hurt.”

According to the article written by Forbes Staff, Tom Van Riper, this year’s list is dominated by NFL quarterback players occupying six of the top 10 most influential athletes with New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning ranking second and third respectively, based on public opinion polling.

NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson was named the Most Influential Athlete for the second straight year. Van Riper wrote that Johnson’s talent and guy-next-door demeanor endears him to fans, as well as to marketing chiefs of brands like Chevrolet, Quaker State and Lowe’s.

Tailing Pacquiao on the list were New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin.

The Forbes’ list of America’s Most Influential Athletes is based on a survey conducted by survey firms Nielsen and E-Poll, wherein over 1,100 adults were questioned about dozens of well-known athletes “to measure their likeability and whether they’re considered ‘influential.’” Candidates were limited to pro athletes who are currently active and who score at least 20% awareness with the general public.

Give Your Heart A Break lyrics

The day I first met you
You told me you'd never fall in love
But now that I get you
I know fear is what it really was

Now here we are, so close
Yet so far, haven't I passed the test?
When will you realize
Baby, I'm not like the rest

Don't wanna break your heart
I wanna give your heart a break
I know you're scared it's wrong
Like you might make a mistake
There's just one life to live
And there's no time to waste, to waste

So let me give your heart a break
Give your heart a break
Let me give your heart a break
Your heart a break

Oh, yeah yeah

On Sunday, you went home alone
There were tears in your eyes
I called your cell phone, my love
But you did not reply

The world is ours, if you want it
We can take it, if you just take my hand
There's no turning back now
Baby, try to understand

Don't wanna break your heart
Wanna give your heart a break
I know you're scared it's wrong
Like you might make a mistake
There's just one life to live
And there's no time to waste, to waste

So let me give your heart a break
Give your heart a break
Let me give your heart a break
Your heart a break
There's just so much you can take
Give your heart a break
Let me give your heart a break
Your heart a break

Oh, yeah yeah

When your lips are on my lips
And our hearts beat as one
But you slip right out of my fingertips
Every time you run, whoa

Don't wanna break your heart
Wanna give your heart a break
I know you're scared it's wrong
Like you might make a mistake
There's just one life to live
And there's no time to waste, to waste
So let me give your heart a break

Cuz you've been hurt before
I can see it in your eyes
You try to smile it away
Some things, you can't disguise
Don't wanna break your heart
Baby, I can ease the ache, the ache

So, let me give your heart a break
Give your heart a break
Let me give your heart a break
Your heart a break
There's just so much you can take
Give your heart a break
Let me give your heart a break
Your heart a break

Oh yeah,yeah

The day I first met you
You told me you'd never fall in love

Philippines named among top 3 dive destinations

After only a few weeks since the travel news website CNNGo included the Tubbataha Reef and The Canyons in Puerto Galera in its list of the best dive sites in the world, the Philippines continue to reap accolades from dive enthusiasts. The country was named once again as one of the top 3 dive destinations in the world during the Marine Diving Fair 2012 held recently in Tokyo, Japan.

The Philippines is the only ASEAN country that was ranked as among the top three dive destinations together with Maldives and Palau, according to the Department of Tourism on Monday.
It also noted that the Philippines has been included in the top five “Best Overseas Destinations” since 2006 and one of the top 10 “Dream Destinations.”

Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. said the awards affirmed the country’s status as a "must-see dive destination."

The Marine Diving Fair 2012 in Tokyo, Japan, was held from April 6-8. It was one of the largest diving and beach resort exhibitions in Asia. It attracted over 50,000 visitors and showcased 200 exhibitors from 50 different countries.

The Department of Tourism said that their colorful booth with its campaign logo "It's More Fun in the Philippines" was a “crowd drawer” at the event.

“With five aquariums placed strategically inside the booth and the paintings of marine life on the wall, fair visitors were drawn to the booth to discover what makes diving ‘more fun’ in the Philippines,” the DOT said.

The participation of the Tourism Department at the event was aimed at maintaining the high profile of the country’s as a premier dive destination among Japanese. The country was among the top three sources of foreign tourist arrivals visiting the Philippines last year.

Two Pinoys Make it on The Voice of Australia

Two Filipinos made it though the blind auditions of the first season of the TV talent show, "The Voice" in Australia.

Philippine-born Jerson Trinidad was picked by judge Delta Goodrem, a local singer-songwriter, to be on her team after his rendition of John Legend's "Ordinary People" on Monday night.
The 39-year-old Filipino who now lives in Melbourne started singing professionally when he was only 14 years old. According to his online bio posted on the show’s website, his family migrated to Australia in 1989. When he was 19, he appeared on Star Search and made it through to the finals. The following year, he joined New Faces and brought home the title. For the past 10 years, he has been singing at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. But he knows he is more than a hotel singer so he decided to join "The Voice."

Trinidad joins another Filipino-Australian who made it through the blind audition last April 16 and blew the judges. Yshrael Pascual was picked by another judge, Seal to be part of his team after his performance of “Miss You” by the Rolling Stones.

The 33-year-old Pascual, who was born in Marikina Philippines, started singing when he was 19. He has been in a boy band and he has worked with a soul musical producer in LA. He won the 2004 Music OzAward and was offered a publishing deal with Mushroom Publishing. He is determined to be the first winner of The Voice Australia.

The talent show which premiered on the Nine Network last April 15, 2012 is hosted by Darren McMullen. Aside from Goodrem and Seal, the other judges/coaches are Joel Madden and country singer Keith Urban. The Voice of Australia winner will receive the grand prize of a recording contract with Universal Music Australia and $100,000.

The Power of Giving

When we give, we usually refer to the old adage that “it is better to give than to receive.” But more than that, giving benefits yourself as much or more than it benefits those to whom you give. We feel good and we feel joy when we are giving hence we also function at our best.

When we give with a happy heart, we start to activate the laws that will release the many forms of God's blessing, such that we will be able to give more in the future.

We reap what we sow; this is an eternal law. When we give, we sow seeds that we will eventually reap in a wave of many forms of blessings. Luke 6:38 says:

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Here is a story taken from Fr. Frank Mihalic’s compilation of stories:

During the time of unemployment there was a man down to his last dollar. At Sunday services he laid 50 cents – half of all he had – in the collection basket.

The next morning he heard of a job in a neighboring town, the bus fare was exactly one dollar; but he had only 50 cents left.

So he rode half way, got off, and started to walk to his chance for a job.
But God had better things in store for him.

Passing a factory along the way, he noticed a sign which said: HELP WANTED.
In less than half an hour, he had a job that paid him five dollars a week, more than he would have received at the distant town.

His first week’s pay brought back tenfold the fifty cents he had given to the Lord.
That man went on to become a famous shoe manufacturer….

How about you? Are you a cheerful giver? Do you look for opportunities to share with others?

Earth Day 2012

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day. The first Earth Day celebration was on April 22, 1970 in the United States, exactly 42 years ago and we can say that much has been accomplished in terms of global awareness in the need to protect and save our environment from destruction.

Although there has been a significant increase in environmental awareness on climate change there are still serious problems that need to be addressed. In the Philippines alone, the government has yet to show initiatives in exploring other alternative sources of fuel or energy and there has been no significant effort to cut carbon emissions. There’s also the inadequate muscle in protecting our country’s forests and coral reefs.

Climate change poses a serious threat to our survival. The onslaught of typhoons in the Philippines which triggered devastating floods gave us a taste of what environmental degradation can do to us. We can only hope that we will be spared from these calamities this year.

Over a billion people in some 192 countries are expected to participate in activities in commemoration of the Earth Day. In the Philippines, there will also be activities lined up for the Earth Week. But beyond the symbolic activities, we must ensure that laws that were passed to conserve our environment are efficiently enforced.

Each individual must also do his share in protecting the environment. We should strive to understand biodiversity so we can also understand how we should live while respecting the Earth’s finite resources.

Indeed, Earth Day should not only be celebrated for one day or one week, each of us should be committed to living an environment-friendly lifestyle every day. Let’s give the earth a helping hand.

I hope that the authorities will work on strengthening policies to preserve the beauty of the underground river and the ecosystem around it. We should all be concerned with the protection of our country’s natural resources.

PH Volcanoes crush Sri Lanka, 28-18

The Philippine Volcanoes have put the country on the world map of rugby on Saturday by grabbing the Division 1 crown of the HSBC Asian 5 Nations Rugby Tournament after the team trounced Sri Lanka in the Finals, 28-18.

The historic victory earned the Philippine Rugby team a chance to compete in the 2013 HSBC Asian 5 Nations Championship for the first time.

Oliver Saunders led the Volcanoes in the first half as he tallied three penalty kicks to go along with his two conversions. Joe Matthews and Mike Letts contributed two tries to post a 23–3 half time lead over Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankans came back in the second half by immediately knocking in a couple of tries followed by one conversion to put the scores at 23-15. Arnel Pineda documentary film premiered at Tribeca

The documentary film about Journey front man Arnel Pineda entitled "Don't Stop Believin': Every Man's Journey" premiered to a sold-out crowd at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Thursday night.

The documentary, directed by Filipino-American filmmaker Ramona Diaz, tells the unlikely story of how the life of a Filipino singer changed from obscurity to fame after he became the lead singer of the iconic rock band Journey. The film documents Pineda's audition for the band, as well as the band's most extensive tour to date in 2008.

Pineda and his Journey bandmates walked the red carpet before the world premiere. They include Neal Schon, Journey's guitarist who saw the video of Arnel on YouTube . Fans gave Arnel and the filmmakers a rousing standing ovation at the end of the screening.

In 2007, the Journey band was looking for a new lead singer. The band's guitarist, Neal Schon was searching the Internet late one night and stumbled upon a YouTube video of Arnel Pineda and his band Zoo, performing Journey's "Faithfully" in the Philippines. He was so impressed by the performance that he sent an email to Pineda, who was subsequently flown to the U.S. to audition.

Pineda's family was poor and the singer, at one point had to live on the streets of Manila. Living on the road in the United States, away from his family back home, was also not easy for him.

Pineda and his bandmates are set to embark on another concert tour that will kick off in California in July this year.

Be part of my new Blog Roll!

When I was just starting my blogging journey a few years ago, I met a couple of bloggers who have helped me learn so many things about the wonders of blogging. As a newbie, I learned from them how to drive traffic to my blog, how to improve my page rank and so many other things. These friends supported me by commenting on my posts and I did the same thing. We exchanged links. I used to have a long blog roll dedicated for fellow bloggers and friends.

However, these friends have moved on. Most of them are no longer blogging hence their links no longer work or their blogs are no longer updated. Indeed, friends come and go.

So I guess it’s time to rebuild my Blog Roll. I have been receiving a couple of emails and requests for link exchange but I was just too lazy to work on them. But I already put this task on my to-do-list so it will be accomplished anytime soon.

If you want to be part of my new blog roll and exchange link with me, kindly add my link on your blog and comment on this blog post. It will be greatly appreciated. Rest assured, you will be added to my new blog list.

If you used to be part of my blog roll and you still want your link in here, just buzz me so I can include you on the new list.

Jessica Sanchez Survives Idol Elimination

Filipino-Mexican contestant Jessica Sanchez will continue her American Idol journey as she survived the elimination on Thursday evening (Friday morning in Manila). Colton Dixon was eliminated from the show.

Other remaining finalists who survived the elimination include Joshua Ledet, Skylar Laine, Philip Philips, Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh.

On Thursday (Manila time), Sanchez performed Alicia Keys' hit "Fallin" and Otis Redding's classic "Try A Little Tenderness." The judges gave restrained praises for her performances but they said that they’re glad that they saved her last week after she got the least number of votes.

Jennifer Lopez commented: "You're just a little baby. I’m glad we had a save and used it on you."

Filipino Priest won an International Environmental Prize

A Filipino Catholic priest from Mindoro was named as one of the recipients of the 2012 Goldman Environmental Prize. Fr. Edwin Gariguez is one of the 6 winners worldwide who were recognized for their efforts in protecting the environment.

According to the foundation’s website, Fr. Gariguez also known as Father Edu led a grassroots movement against an open-pit nickel mine in Mindoro to protect the community’s indigenous people and the island’s biodiversity. He co-founded the Alliance Against Mining (ALAMIN), a broad coalition of Mindoro residents, elected officials, civil society groups, church leaders and indigenous peoples who oppose mining on the island.

“Uniting thousands of indigenous people, farmers and local and provincial political leaders, Gariguez and his ALAMIN coalition led Mindoro communities in numerous protests. Undeterred by threats of violence and verbal harassment from mining officials and the military—and reeling through the loss of a colleague at ALAMIN who was murdered because of his activism—Father Edu went on to broaden the grassroots movement beyond Mindoro,” the Goldman Environmental Foundation said.

The Goldman Environmental Prize, now in its 23rd year, is awarded annually to grassroots environmental heroes from each of the world's 6 inhabited continental regions. It is considered as the largest award for grassroots activism with an individual cash prize of US $150,000.

The other winners are from Kenya, China, Russia, USA and Argentina.

UST Graduate wins BB. Pilipinas Universe 2012

A pharmacy graduate of University of Sto. Tomas (UST) was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2012 in the coronation night held on Sunday, April 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Tugonon (No. 18) bested 29 other contestants for the right to represent the country in this year's Ms. Universe pageant that will be held in Florida, USA.

In the question and answer portion, Tugonon was asked the question, "Many women nowadays forego a happy family life for a successful career. How do you feel about this?"

Her answer reflected her views as a modern Filipina. "Well, I believe that women have the right to choose between what they want, but for me, you'll have to go for what God has called you to do, whatever it is between the two. You must do what your purpose is in this world. Just have a childlike faith and a mature obedience and everything will go smooth."

Janine is a veteran in the BB. Pilipinas pageant. She placed first runner-up during Bb. Pilipinas 2011.

American Idol Judges Save Jessica Sanchez

The American Idol journey of Filipina-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez almost ended Thursday night (Friday in the Philippines) after she received the lowest number of votes in this week’s elimination round. Fortunately for her, the judges decided to use their one save of the season to keep the 16-year old singer on the show.

Two of the contestants who received lavish praises for their performances last Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) landed on the bottom 3, Sanchez and Joshua Ledet. Elise Testone completed the bottom 3 for this week’s elimination. Sanchez performed a soulful rendition of Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering." AI Judge Randy Jackson even commented that she "slayed the biggest fish of the night." She has consistently been praised by the judges for her vocal skills.

Ryan Seacrest declared that both Ledet and Testone were safe which means that Sanchez is in danger of elimination. She started singing "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" by Deborah Cox for the save but she was stopped by the judges who all went to the stage to embrace the 16-year-old contestant.

"Give me that mic! This is crazy! We're using the save. You ain't going home! Go sit down," Jennifer Lopez said as the 'Idol' crowd stood on their feet, applauding.
Randy Jackson said he and fellow judges Lopez and Steven Tyler decided to use their one save of the season.

"We are saving Jessica Sanchez without any doubt. Let me just say this. This girl is one of the best singers in America. Are you kidding me? Everybody please vote for the best! It's about finding the best!" he said.

Since the judges used the save, it means that two contestants will be eliminated next week.

Baguio Cab Driver Returns P340K to Canadian

Honesty is still the best policy. And I believe that this basic Filipino trait is still inherent in most Filipinos despite all the odds.

A news report from the abs-cbnnews.com struck me as I wade through the many negative news and scandals online in search for good news that I can share on this blog. It was a report about a cab driver in Baguio City who returned a large amount of money that one of his passengers left in his taxi last Saturday.

Hector Valdo only earns P500 a day and the C$8,000 or P343,654 that was left inside his taxi would really go a long way but this did not stop him from returning the money to Canadian citizen Dina Dio.

Valdo reportedly found the Canadian’s wallet inside his taxi at around 5pm last Saturday and he immediately called the number he found inside the wallet.

He said that he did not even think of keeping the money as he is afraid of karma.

Based on the news report, the Canadian hugged the driver tightly when the wallet was returned last Sunday.

Valdo was a resident of Barangay Irisan. His wife works as a stay-out maid while his eldest son is in college through a sports scholarship.

He said that he was not expecting anything in return for his good deed.

Kudos to this fellow Pinoy! May your tribe increase, sir!

Whispered Fear Lyrics

Feels like I’m blind
Save me from the night
without your love
Let me feel your presence
I’m so lost, oh I’m lost I couldn’t find myself
Get me out of this

Chorus:
Pull me, Hold my heart
Don’t wanna make the same
mistakes again
Rescue me, I wanna be whole again
Lead me, love me
It’s you that I want
It’s you that I want

Let me forget the past
It’s running for me
Wipe it all away
Together with your tears
Show me where to go
And I will follow you
Will fight hard not to look back
At the shadows that damaged my soul…

Chorus:
Pull me, Hold my heart
Don’t wanna make the same
mistakes again
Rescue me, I wanna be whole again
Lead me, love me
It’s you that I want
It’s you that I want

Bridge:
Looking at the dark
Finding myself
All I see is fear
I don’t want this
I don’t want this anymore
I’m trapped so long
God I’m trapped so long

Chorus:
Pull me, Hold my heart
Don’t wanna make the same
mistakes again
Rescue me, I wanna be whole again
Lead me, love me
It’s you that I want
It’s you that I want

Two Philippine diving sites, recognized as among the world's best

Two diving destinations in the Philippines were recognized as among the best in the world, according to the travel website of the Cable News Network or CNN. The Tubbataha reef in Palawan and The Canyons in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro were included in the list of the best dive sites in the world.

The Tubbataha reef ranked eighth on CNNGo’s list while The Canyons also made it to the list and was ranked 45th.

“Supersize your dive experience at Tubbataha, where everything comes in giant form. The main advantage to diving at Tubbataha is that the water is exceptionally clean, so the marine life lives much longer, making it grow to silly proportions,” the website said.

“Expect kaleidoscopic colors combined with guitar sharks, black tip reef sharks, nurse sharks, gliding blue-spotted lagoon rays, unicorns, boxfish, scorpion fish and more,” it added.

“Schools of spotted and ribbon sweetlips, shiny trevallies and weird-looking batfish make up the scene at this first-rate dive site. There’s also an explosion of coral and plant life including beautiful delicate gorgonian sea fans and hollow barrel sponges; look inside for critters lurking within,” the website said about The Canyons.

Barracuda Point on Malaysia’s Sipadan island, Yongala in Queensland, Australia and SS Thistlegorm in Red Sea, Egypt topped the CNNGo’s list of 50 best dive spots in the world.

CNNGo also recognized Siargao, a teardrop-shaped island in Surigao del Norte, as the eighth best surf spot in the world, earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Manila was recognized by the website as one of Asia’s greatest food cities.

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 Complete List of Housemates

Another season of the Pinoy Big Brother franchise kicked off last Sunday with the introduction of the first nine teen housemates in the show dubbed as "The Funtastic Kickoff." Seven male teen housemates were introduced in the disco-inspired show while it was announced that two female housemates, which are identical twins, already entered the house even before the pilot episode.

The show is hosted by Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, and actor-dancer John Prats. John, a former housemate and the Second Big Placer of "PBB Celebrity Edition Plus", returned to the program as a regular host.

Here is the list of the new Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 teen housemates with descriptions from abs-cbnnews.com:

• Tom Doromal, 16. Dubbed the “Bukid Prince of Davao,” Doromal comes from a rich hacienda-owning family but nonetheless partakes in farm chores, including climbing coconut trees to pick coconuts, which are made into husks and copra. Doromal lists playing basketball as his hobby and likes watching cartoons “Ben 10” and “Super Strikers.” Although he isn’t fluent in Tagalog, he is determined to get along well with his fellow housemates.

• Roy Requejo, 18. Dubbed “Boy Sipag of Naga,” Requejo comes from a broken family and has worked as a garbage boy, construction worker and welder to provide for his siblings. He decided it would be better to discontinue his studies so he could work and help his family. He believes his strength and determination will help him stand out among the housemates.

• Ryan Boyce, 16. Dubbed the “Pilyong Binatilyo of Angeles,” the half-British Boyce is an aspiring football player, whose view of life changed when he got into an accident that almost cost him his dreams of playing football. He also describes himself as “pilyo” and said he admires the confidence of former PBB celebrity housemate Baron Geisler.

• Yves Flores, 18. The “Masunuring Son of Tarlac,” Flores said he makes it a point to get home early because he has a 7 p.m. curfew. He said he doesn’t mind the restrictions because he understands that this would also benefit him. The athletic “good boy” (he plays basketball, volleyball and badminton) said he joined “PBB” to help his sick grandfather.

• Alec Dungo, 18. The “Chinito Gwapito of Laguna” is a pharmacy student at the University of Santo Tomas and a campus heartthrob who has joined numerous provincial and school pageants. The Chinese-Filipino student tried out for “PBB” twice before and has finally fulfilled his dream of becoming a housemate.

• Vince Manlapaz, 16. Dubbed the “Bunsoy Tisoy of Rizal,” Manlapaz is an honor student who was raised by his grandmother and aunt, since his mother works abroad, while his father has another family. The youngest of three children, he said he isn’t spoiled and is one of the top students in his school, where he also writes for the campus magazine.

• Kit Thompson, 15. Dubbed “Kid Tangkad of Pampanga,” Thompson stands at a whopping 6-foot-1. His father hails from New Zealand, while his mother is a Filipina. A self-confessed former playboy, he said he misses his mother. He enjoys playing Frisbee and basketball.

• Joj and Jai Apangan, 17. Dubbed the “Double Biba of Bacolod.” The identical twins like watching TV and reading pocketbooks and listed “The Vampire Diaries” and “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” as their favorite TV shows.

The following teen housemates were introduced this Monday on the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 Uber:

Myrtle Sarrosa, 18. Dubbed "Cosplay Cutie ng Iloilo", she ranks 3rd in the list of top cosplayers in the country.

Mariz Reneses, 17. Dubbed as the "Inday Husay ng Cebu." She works as a housemaid while studying in high school to earn additional money for her schooling. Despite of this, she subsequently was proclaimed Miss United Nations and Prom Queen in their batch.

Nika Javier, 15. Dubbed as "Ala Angel ng Batangas." She is the daughter of an OFW and a faith healer.

Clodet Ann Loreto, 13. Dubbed as the "Prangkang ChikaTeen ng Davao." She is the youngest teen housemate, let alone youngest housemate out of the whole Big Brother franchise. She is an orator and scholar in her school. She entered the house to help her parents who make a living by selling slippers. She loves the Twilight series and if ever given a chance, she might give up being human to be one of Edward Cullen's race.

Karen Mae Reyes, 15. Dubbed as the "Hagikgik Chick ng Mindoro" because of her smiling face and unusual laughter. The father of this bubbly girl died due to a traffic incident.

Claire Bercero, 15. Dubbed as the "Cinderebel ng Makati." She is half-French, half-Filipino. She grew up far from her mother and never knew his father. Once in her life, she became rebellious. She stopped studying after finishing her 3rd year in high school but with the guidance of her grandparents, Claire realized her faults and now leaning towards the right path with her Christian faith.

“PBB Teen Edition 4” with Toni Gonzaga airs after “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block, while “PBB Teen Edition 4 Uber 2012” hosted by Gonzalez, Domingo and John Prats airs after “Angelito: Batang Ama” in Kapamilya Gold.

Part Of Me Lyrics

Days like this I want to drive away
Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade
You chewed me up and spit me out
Like I was poison in your mouth
You took my light, you drained me down
That was then and this is now
Now look at me

This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
Throw your sticks and stones
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
I just wanna throw my phone away
Find out who is really there for me
You ripped me off, your love was cheap
Was always tearing at the seams I fell deep and you let me drown
But that was then and this is now
Now look at me

This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
Throw your sticks and stones
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no

Now look at me, I'm sparkling
A firework, a dancing flame
You won't ever put me out again I'm glowing, oh woah oh
So you can keep the diamond ring
It don't mean nothing anyway
In fact you can keep everything Yeah, yeah
Except for me

This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no (away from me) Throw your sticks and stones
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me, no, (away from me)
This is the part of me, me, me, me, me, me, no
Throw your sticks and stones
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no

Happy Easter!

I understand that not all people celebrate Easter but if you do, then Happy Easter to you! For Catholics and some Christians, Easter Sunday marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago. It is believed to be the day when Christ brought forth our salvation by vanquishing death when He rose again from the grave three days after sacrificing his life in the dark hours of Good Friday.

Is there a better way to celebrate Easter than to accept the new life Jesus Christ offers today? Let us trust him as our Savior and surrender our will to him as the Lord.

Easter Sunday is a time to commemorate renewal, restoration and our redemption. I hope that the wonderful story of our Christ’s victory over death inspire us to be more steadfast in our faith and continue to lead meaningful and fruitful lives.

Again, happy Easter to all and May God richly bless us all!

Forevermore Lyrics

There are times when I just want to look at your face
With the stars in the night
There are times when I just want to feel your embrace
In the cold night

Chorus:
I just can't believe that you are mine now
You were just a dream that I once knew
I never thought I would be right for you
I just can't compare you with anything in this world
You're all I need to be with forevermore

All those years, I've longed to hold you in my arms
I've been dreaming of you
Every night, I've been watching all the stars that fall down
Wishing you would be mine

Repeat Chorus

Time and again
There are these changes that we cannot end
As sure as the time keeps going on and on
My love for you will be forevermore

I just can't believe that you are mine now
You were just a dream that I once knew
I never thought I would be right for you
I just can't compare you with anything in this world

As endless as forever
Our love will stay together
You're all I need to be here with forever more
(As endless as forever
Our love will stay together)
You're all I need
To be here with forevermore...

Happy Lyrics

I love your storied eyes
Love the hair that's never in your face
Love the way you move to the beat
Every time our favorite song plays

I love that look you give me
When you're a little bit amused
I love the way you smile
That makes me warm and fuzzy and a little confused

I've waited all my life
To find someone like you

You make me happy
Every little thing you do
I get the butterflies
Every time I look at you
You make my heart sing
The sweetest melodies
Wish I could tell you
Just how much you mean to me

I love when you take my hand
Just to help me down the stairs
I love the way you dance
How you always forget to fix your hair

I love when you drive me home
The way your eyebrows shoot up when you sing
I love your voice on the phone
How you seem to understand everything

And all of my wrong turns
They lead me straight to you

You make me happy
Every little thing you do
I get the butterflies
Every time I look at you
