The Philippine Volcanoes outplay Chinese Taipei, 32-12, and posted their second straight win in the HSBC Asian 5 Nations Rugby Tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Luke Matthews scored two straight tries in the first half, and Bryan West also contributed with one try. Oli Saunders contributed 3 conversions and a successful penalty kick.
Chinese-Taipei scored two tries late in the second half but failed to catch up.
The final statistics showed that the Volcanoes had a total of 5 tries against Chinese Taipei's 2. The Philippine Rugby Team also had 3 conversions, while the Taiwanese were limited to just 1.
The Philippine team won their opening round assignment last Sunday after demolishing Singapore with a score of 37-20.
Consequently, the Philippine Volcanoes climbed the International Rugby Board (IRB) world rankings following their victory over Singapore. They went up 10 places after upsetting the higher-ranked Singapore team. The Philippines team is now ranked No. 62 from No. 72.
The Philippine Volcanoes will face Sri Lanka on April 21, Saturday. Sri Lanka also posted 2 victories in the ongoing tournament.
