Filipino filmmaker Brillante Mendoza once again proved that Filipino films are world-class after he recently won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (Netpac) at the Brisbane International Film Festival in Brisbane, Australia for his movie “Foster Child” last August 10.
This award is just one of the recognitions this movie has been continuously receiving. “Foster Child” also won the Best Film and Best Actress award for veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache at the Durban International Film Festival last July in South Africa.
“Foster Child” is a film about a poor family hired by a local foster care facility to provide temporary care and shelter for abandoned children waiting for adoption.
Mendoza is also the director of the much-talked-about movie “Serbis” which was officially invited to the 46th New York International Film Festival.
