Plastic Surgery PA
It seems that everybody wants to be beautiful and fit nowadays. I know people who religiously go to the gym to improve their physique and some would undergo strict diet regimens to lose weight. No wonder, weight loss pills and other beauty products are just everywhere.
However, with the advent of modern technology, there are better and faster ways for you to achieve the body that you desire. One is plastic surgery. Well, you’ve heard of it but probably hesitant to try it because of safety issues. But let me tell you that millions of people undergo plastic surgery procedures these days and on almost all parts of the body that it has now become quite a common procedure. Of course, any surgery carries some risks but plastic surgery is comparatively safe especially in good hands. It’s just a matter of choosing the best surgeon. He may have the best possible degree from the best medical school but unless he has good experience, I suggest that you think a dozen times.
Nevertheless, you can be in safe and reliable hands if your surgeon has enough experience and expertise in the field. One of these is Dr. Peter Pacik, MD, FACS of the Plastic Surgery Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. He has been performing cosmetic surgery procedures since 1972 with patients from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine! This Plastic Surgery Center specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery, including body lifts, breast enlargements, breast lifts, breast reductions, eyelid surgery, ear surgery, facelifts, fat grafting, liposuction, neck and chin surgery, rhinoplasty, surgery after massive weight loss, and tummy tucks. They also offer facial rejuvenation and other advanced skin care to patients from all over New England. Their goal is to make every patient comfortable when they walk into their office because they understand that choosing to undergo a cosmetic procedure can be a difficult decision.
If you want to know more about them, just visit their website and schedule a consultation.

Featured PDA Scholar of the Day: Hansen
Full Name: HANSEN NICHOLS
Age : 24
Birthdate: 21 October
Place of Birth: Burlingame, California, USA
Height: 5’10”
Civil Status: Single
Educ. Attainment: B.S. Economics
School Attended: University of San Francisco
Interests (other than singing): Dancing
Favorite Singer: Justin Timberlake
Musical Influences: Martin Nievera, Ariel Rivera, Gary V., Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Enrique Iglesias, Babyface, Jenner Mallari (a friend), Mom, and my Ate
Discovering my voice: I remember my Mom would sing at parties and family gatherings and everyone would watch her and it inspired me to want to sing.We discovered my talent before I was in Kindergarten.
First song I ever performed: If I remember correctly, If Your Not Here By My Side by Menudo.
Musical instruments I can play: When I was in elementary school I took violin lessons and learned how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.On Piano I learned how to play SwanLake.
Musical instruments I’d like to learn: I want to re-learn playing the piano or keyboard and the guitar.
Greatest Achievement: Being able to finish college despite doing (cancer) treatment at the same time
Biggest Failure: Not making it into PDA Season one
Greatest Dream: To be successful, rich and famous by way of the entertainment industry, and to go into business
Songs Of My Life: Angels Brought Me Here, This Is Now
Quote Me: “I’m very passionate about music and show business. I’m here at this level of the competition because I’m living my dream rather than just watching others life it. I have every reason to quit through rejection, but I forged on and made sacrifices, which is why I’m here today.”
Notes on Sen:
For PDA fans who have followed the show since Primer 1 Season 1, Hansen Nichols is not a new voice. He made it to the NCR leg but failed the final casting during kick-off. “I almost gave up,” he confesses. But like the true survivor that he is, he wouldn’t take failure seriously. If he could succeed a tough fight for a second chance at life, surely he could claim a better opportunity with PDA. So when Season 2 auditions came, Sen did not hesitate to join once more the long lines of hopefuls and subjected himself in front of the judges. This time he passed all stages of the competition for a scholarship slot.
US-grown and educated, Sen could have picked any job at any corporation anywhere in the world but he sacrificed stability to pursue a yet-uncertain career in music. But the dream that started way back when he was a small boy watching his mom sing at parties, and which burned alive in his heart even through a near-fatal brush with cancer, is too strong to ignore.

Relax and have fun playing Banzai.
For me, playing games is the best way to relax and unwind. That is why I’m always at the look out for games that I can play alone or with my family. One of the games that caught my fancy is the ScreenLife Game “Banzai”. I find it funny and exciting and I will surely play it with my siblings and my nephews.
You haven’t heard of it? Here’s how it works. Players need to watch stunts from the Super Banzai Video show after which the players will bet on the conclusion of the stunt. Players only have to fill the betting bowl with sushi using chopsticks to bet. The player who wins all the sushi wins the game.
If you want to know more about the game, visit their website where you can play the Tako-gotchi or even download wallpaper like what I have above. This DVD betting game can also be purchase online from the website for a discounted price. You can also visit Tako’s MySpace page if you want to see more of this character.
So what are you waiting for? Check out their website and start playing Banzai!
ScreenLife Games is at it again. They launched a new Banzai game. Check it out:

Download "The Science of Getting Rich" ebook
It’s been a long time since I posted here and shared the e-book of “The Alchemist” and I wrote then that it was just a start of me sharing some of the e-books in my collection.
Another book that created a great impact on me is “The Science of Getting Rich”. Although I haven’t totally applied the principles in the book (that’s why I’m not yet rich), the book only reminds us that attaining wealth is possible.
The Science of Getting Rich written by Wallace D. Wattles introduced the world to the power of positive thinking even before the release of “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale. It is considered a philosophy of Mental Science or Mind Science.
If you still don’t have this e-book, you can click on the link below to download a free e-book. However, if you like the book you owe it to yourself to buy the paperback, the CD or download the audio program, it’s that valuable.

Keep your family safe.
As a family-oriented person, I worry too much on the safety of my family especially during these times when it seems that nobody is safe from criminals. Preserving our families and protecting our family members especially children are at the top of the list on many people’s concerns.
The evening news can attest to how criminals are just everywhere, and this includes sexual predators. And it seems that the government can not guarantee us safety from these bad elements of society. As the law enforcers are trying to tackle this critical issue, we can do our share to protect our family by keeping our vigilance and awareness. You can find out if there are sexual predators in your neighborhood by going to Megan’s Law. You will be able to access the complete list of sexual offenders in the US on this website and you can also get email alerts when a sex offender moves into your neighborhood. You can subscribe now and be aware of the danger that may exist in your area.
Remember that awareness can keep your family safe.

Notes on Van:
Coming from a well-off family, good-looking, and talented, Van is expected to be contended with his life. But when asked what song would describe his general feeling, his immediate reply is “Incomplete.”
Van’s family used to be complete and happy until his parents separated. His mom is now based in the States while his father has his own life away from Van. All by himself, he has no one else to turn to but his textbooks and his music. But since it’s music that make shim happy, he has opted to postpone schooling for the meantime.
PDA will not give the Van the feeling of wholeness that he yearns for, but it will train him to become a better singer and perhaps, a complete artist.

Alleged audio recording of Winston Garcia.
This is a deviation from the original theme of this blog and I apologize that I can not help myself from putting this video on these pages. I have always envisioned this blog to live up to its slogan: to celebrate Filipino pride. And this video will surely not help boost our pride as a Filipino. But I hope that this will serve as an eye-opener to us who opted not to accept the reality: that there are problems that need to be resolve and that we need to do our part to bring about change.
I don’t know where this video came from (or who put this into YouTube), I’m not even discounting the possibility that this was fabricated. But we know in ourselves that somehow, there’s a tinge of reality in these words.
This is an audio recording of an alleged GSIS President Winston Garcia where he purportedly remarked that Meralco should resort to extra-judicial means to win its court cases just like other big companies and that they should take advantage of the corrupt courts. To think that this statement came from a government official is alarming especially as this is the same person who is doing his best to take control of a private company that is vital to the country.

She temporarily turned her back on interior designing - a career she worked hard for and is proud of – to pursue her passion for music.
Not the run-of-the-mill karaoke-goer who belts out everytime they see a mic, Cris doesn’t just sing. She is also into guitar and piano. Her first piece on the guitar? The intricate Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin.

Favorite Singers: Guy Sebastian, BoyzIIMen
Musical influences: Guy Sebastian
Discovering my voice: When I was in first year college and a working student, my friend would hear me singing while holding the mop. He encouraged me to join a singing contest in our school.
First song ever performed: Nasaan Ang Liwanag
Musical instruments I can play: Wala po
Musical instruments I’d like to learn: Guitar, piano
Greatest achievement: Being a Pinoy Dream Academy scholar
Biggest failure: When I lost my scholarships. Hindi ko alam kung saan ako kukuha ng pera pampaaral sa sarili.
Greatest Dream: To be a successful singer and chef!
Song of my life: Angels Brought Me Here
Quote Me: “I’d sing until my last breath… Kahit man lang sa kanta ko, mapangiti ko sila.”
Notes on Bugoy:
Bugoy only recently discovered that he had a stage-ready singing voice, and only accidentally.
Coming from an impoverished family in a far-flung area in Camarines Sur, the hard-working farmer’s son went into university with the dream of earning a degree. He payed his tuition through scholarships and earned his pocket money working as janitor, dish washer and other odd jobs.
It must have been a habit for Bugoy to sing while doing menial jobs. But back in the farm where only the cows and the birds could hear him, his voice went unappreciated. It took a friend, who heard him singing while cleaning with a mop, to make Bugoy realize that he could actually carry a tune. Winning school competitions soon emboldened him to dream some more and try out for PDA.
Look where he is now. Pursuing his dream of becoming a singer. Wherever this takes him, Bugoy will has packed enough prayers in his suitcase to see him through. And he has yet another dream… to meet someone he could fall in love with and call his girlfriend. “Para hindi na ako paghinalaang bading.”

Filipino Wushu athlete won gold in Beijing.
Just after the lackluster campaign for gold of the RP team at the Beijing Olympics has ended, a big consolation came from the Wushu team after Willy Wang won a gold medal in the sports demonstration event yesterday (Friday).
Willy Wang vanquished 20 other competitors at the men’s nanguan and nangun event. Two other Filipino wushu athletes are assured of a bronze medal following their victory from their respective fights in the opening round.
Wushu, however, is just a demonstration sport in the Beijing Olympics so Wang’s gold medal will not reflect in the official medal tally.

Featured Scholar of the Day: Liezel
I already told you that one of my personal favorites in the Pinoy Dream Academy season 2 is Liezel. Her voice is unique and distinctive. No wonder, she holds the record of the most Star Scholar award. She had it four times. However, to sustain the pressure of being a Star Scholar is a big challenge for her. And since she started on top, there’s no other way to go but down. The other scholars are quickly catching up but Liezel is still putting up a good fight. Below is Liezel’s profile:
Full Name: Liezel Garcia
Age: 23
Birthdate: 20 December
Place of Birth: Oriental Mindoro
Height: 5’1”
Racial Descent: Filipino
Occupation: OFW (office work)
Educational. Attainment: Mass Comm.
School Last Attended: Polytechnic University of the Philippines
Interests (other than singing): Dancing, acting
Favorite Singers: Beyonce Knowles, Celine Dion
Musical influences: Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles, Kyla, Lani Misalucha, Jaya, Sarah Geronimo, Ella Mae Saison
Discovering my voice: When I was very young, my grandmother and I would get up at 5:00 a.m. She would teach me Tagalog songs and we’d sing together. I remember I started singing in public since I was three years old.
First song ever performed: Dalagang Tagabukid
Musical instrument I can play: Guitar (basic chords only)
Musical instrument I’d like to learn: Piano, drums
Greatest achievement: My two greatest achievements: when I finished college and when I was chosen as a finalist in PDA
Biggest frustration: I want to be a model but I know I’ll never be one because I’m too small
Greatest Dream: To be a professional singer
Song of my life: On The Side Of Angels
Quote Me: “You should fight for your life even thru trials… we need to grow, explore and move on.”
Notes on Zhel:
Probably her lola had great dreams for Zhel, thus the early morning trainings at 5:00 when she was too young to even appreciate what it could mean for her later in life. All she knew was that people would go crazy over her whenever she was given the microphone and made to sing in public.
She was able to use this talent as she grew up, gaining popularity in her hometown as she reaped first prizes in local singing contests. Now that she has moved on to a grander scale, it’s just too bad that her lola can’t watch and hear her sing anymore.
But what her lola can’t hear, perhaps her father can.He was never there to listen to her in her every singing contest; he left the family when she was six years old and was never heard from again until she was 20, then disappeared again.Maybe, inside the Academy, her voice will be able to reach out to her father and make him come home again.

Planning for Black Friday shopping.
It pays to plan ahead in everything that you do. Planning will save you time and unnecessary stress. This is also true even when shopping. I make sure that I have a list of all the things that I need to buy before going to the store especially during important occasions like Christmas and other shopping holidays.
Aside from Christmas, there’s one shopping holiday that every shopper has been waiting for. It is the day after the Thanksgiving or the Black Friday. It’s a good thing that as early as now, shopper’s can now view the Black Friday circulars of major retailers. You can now see the items that are available from various retailers online even before d-day so you can plan ahead and decide which items you want to buy on Thanksgiving morning. Blackfridayonline.com even holds the record for the earliest Black Friday ad ever. It will even send you email alerts that will inform you when new Black Friday ads have been posted from retailers.
I browse through the different offers from the retailers and I was delighted to see great prices for electronic gadgets in Circuit City that I’ve been planning to buy one of these days.
With about three months to go before Black Friday, I think it's high time to start browsing the website and start planning and completing our shopping list.

Featured PDA Scholar of the Day: Laarni
I’m an avid follower of the Pinoy Dream Academy season 2 eversince it started and I’m a witness on how far the scholars have improved with their performances. I will be posting more information about the scholars in the coming days and I will start with the star scholar from the previous Gala Night.
One of the scholars who have improved immensely is Laarni Losala. One mentor dubbed her as the “apparition lady” before because her eyes were always fixed on the floor when singing. But that was before, Laarni is now full of confidence with her performances. No wonder, she was named as the star scholar on the 9th Gala Performance Night. Two jurors even told her that she has a “great voice”. Below are information I grabbed from the official web site of the Pinoy Dream Academy.
Full Name:Laarni Losala
Age:22
Birthdate: 23 June
Place of Birth: Pasig
Height: 5’2”
Civil Status: Single
Occupation: Student
Educ. Attainment: Bachelor or Secondary Education major in English (ongoing)
School Last Attended: Philippine Women’s University
Interests (other than singing): Acting, debate, teaching
Favorite Singers: Lea Salonga, Whitney Houston, Charlotte Church, Sitti, Charice Pempengco, Gary V., Renee Olstead, Enya
Discovering my voice: “Bibo po ako sa amin when I was a kid. Ginagawa kong microphone ang sandok. Then, lagi akong kumakanta sa loob ng klase during elementary years. Ang saya ko everytime ako kumakanta ng Lupang Hinirang sa flag pole.”
First song ever performed: Ang Tao’y Marupok Kay Daling Lumimot
Musical instrument I can play: Piano. My tita financed my piano lessons at PWU.
Musical instrument I’d like to learn: Violin, guitar
Greatest achievement: I’ve been able to support myself financially, and getting into PDA.
Biggest failure: When I failed and lost my scholarship in college.
Greatest Dream: To have a meaningful and peaceful life
Song of my life: Karamay Mo Si Hesus, composed by Mr. Anderson Go
Quote Me: “Music is my passion.Music will save me.”
Notes on Laarni:
At a young age, Laarni left Sultan Kudarat to find a better life in Manila, but with the promise that when she came back home, fresh with accomplishments they could all be proud of, she would set the family free from the poverty.
In Manila, Laarni came face to face with more hardships and suffering.Without her family to turn to, she found a lot of friends who shared her interest and passion in singing. Through them, her knowledge in music was enhanced, boosting up her confidence to sing.
Her voice as her asset, Laarni found ways to send herself to school. To graduate from college would be the first step toward fulfilling her promise to her family. But when the opportunity for a showbiz career knocked, she chose to drop school for the meantime and give PinoyDreamAcademy a try. With PDA, she could find herself delivering her promise of achievements to her family earlier than she expected.

My blog was approved!
Last Monday, I received a good news through email. Finally, my blog has been approved by Payperpost. It was a breath of fresh air for me as a week ago I submitted this same blog and received a rejection. I was told then that I don’t have enough posts on my blog. Apparently, they require the blog to have about 10 posts within the past 30 days and they said this blog currently has less than 10 posts within the past 30 days. I don’t know how they count the posts as I made sure that I met all the requirements before I dared to submit it. However, it’s all water under the bridge now. I’m happy that it was approved the second time.
After surpassing the first step, I thought then that everything else will go smoothly but four days after my blog was approved I still haven’t received a task from Payperpost. Yes, there are opportunities available but it’s either my blog is not qualified for the task or all posts are fully reserved.
Luckily, I have a regular job and I’m just blogging part time, if not then empty stomachs will start to complain. Lol. Mind you, it once crossed my mind that if I earned well enough money from blogging I’ll consider doing it full time, now I’m hesitant. I wonder if there are tips or tricks that I need to learn to grab opportunities. Do I have to do something else aside from checking the PPP website from time to time and making sure that my blog has a decent traffic and pagerank? Do I just have to depend on luck? Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated, fellow bloggers.

Do you want to be the next Nouveau Riche?
Bonjour, Au revoir, merci and Bon appétit... Don’t get me wrong, these are French words that are somewhat familiar to me. I’m happy to announce the addition of another French word into my French vocabulary. The word is Nouveau Riche, it literally means “new rich” which refers to an individual who has gained considerable wealth that used to be unattainable.
Nouveau Riche people have emerged from “rags to riches” stories and the world has a good number of people who have risen from poverty and obscurity to wealth and fame. Stories of Oprah Winfrey, Andrew Carnegie, Bill Clinton and J.K. Rowling will definitely ring a bell. These people are living monuments that wealth and fame can be achieved through determination and perseverance.
It is inspiring to read the stories of these Nouveau Riche people who have triumphed over poverty, we may even learn something from them or we can pick up an idea by reading their stories. The way I see it, the trusted route to accumulate wealth is still through entrepreneurship. CNNMoney has a very interesting article for determined entrepreneurs who want to be Nouveau Riche. They have uncovered promising ventures for those who have determination to be a successful entrepreneur.
So do you want to be the next Nouveau Riche? Then, dream it, live it and realize it.

PDA season 2 9th Gala Performance Night videos.
Me and my girlfriend are hooked with the Pinoy Dream Academy season 2. Every Saturday nights, we are glued to the Television to watch the performances of the scholars. And just lately, we started recording their performances on our computer.
I personally like the voices of Liezel and Bugoy, they have great talents in not so pretty faces. My girlfriend is rooting for Laarni, I don’t know why. Lol.
By the way, I added a poll on the side bar of this blog about the Pinoy Dream Academy. You can vote for your favorite scholars if you think they deserve to become the Star Dreamer.
For those who missed the 9th Gala Performance Night, you can view the performances of your favorite scholars from the links below:

Harry Potter 6 trailer.
I confess that I’m a Harry Potter fanatic and I am one of those who are disappointed when the release of the sixth installment of the movie was postponed until the summer of 2009.
For now, we can just be contented with the trailer of the movie.
Here’s the synopsis and the trailer of the movie based on the sixth book of J. K. Rowling:
Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simpering with jealously

I Get Robbed.
A couple of weeks ago, I posted on this blog about the series of unfortunate events that has happened to me recently. I thought I already saw the end of it, I’ve never been so sad to be proven wrong…
Donna and I thought it was just an ordinary day that was about to end. We got home from another stressful day at the office and we’re just happy to enter our new apartment to rest.
The house was just how we left it, the door was locked; and I used the key to open it. The living room was still cluttered with our things, nothing unusual.
Donna then, started to look for her cell phone; both of us left our phones when he hurried to the office that morning. She complained that she can’t find it; I began to sense that something was wrong. Our cell phones were definitely in our room where we left it but she said they were nowhere to be found.
My fear was confirmed when I entered the room, the usual clutter of clothes and other things were still there; but what she hadn’t noticed was the cabinets on top of our bed were all opened. It looks like somebody was looking for something.
Whoever it was, found not only our cell phones but also my precious Kodak EasyShare V1253 digital camera. Nothing else was missing. It appeared that the culprit was looking for things that can be put in pockets. It made sense since we’re living in a compound of apartments and anybody carrying televisions or refrigerators out of an apartment would be too noticeable.
We can only guess that the burglar entered the house through the front door as there was no forcible entry anywhere in the house.
I felt bad about losing the camera as it was given to me by the company; it was worth two years of dedication and service.
I can only hope that whoever got it will put the proceeds to good use this time.

'Foster Child' wins in Brisbane International Filmfest
Filipino filmmaker Brillante Mendoza once again proved that Filipino films are world-class after he recently won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (Netpac) at the Brisbane International Film Festival in Brisbane, Australia for his movie “Foster Child” last August 10.
This award is just one of the recognitions this movie has been continuously receiving. “Foster Child” also won the Best Film and Best Actress award for veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache at the Durban International Film Festival last July in South Africa.
“Foster Child” is a film about a poor family hired by a local foster care facility to provide temporary care and shelter for abandoned children waiting for adoption.
Mendoza is also the director of the much-talked-about movie “Serbis” which was officially invited to the 46th New York International Film Festival.

Looking for DVDs?
I was home for five straight days last week including the weekends and my three-day sick leave owing to a pink eye. And guess how I spent these days? I can’t think of a better way than to spend it watching Television and DVDs?
I actually hunted for latest movies on DVDs from my neighbors and even through the internet for my viewing pleasure. The search wasn’t hard as there are websites with surprisingly wide range of DVD selections. I even found a site which is a premiere resource not only for DVDs but for blu-ray discs as well. Blu-ray Disc is the next-generation optical disc format developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing larger amounts of data compared to DVD.
DVDs.com is not just another online DVD shop, the site is easy to navigate and ensures tons of information about your favorite movies and DVDs. You can browse through the different categories from Action & Adventure to Sports and Television. I wasn’t able to browse through the different categories yet as I already had my eyes full with great movies from the three categories that I love.

The fantaserye, directed by Wenn Deramas is based on an original storyline featuring some of Philippine folklore’s most loved characters like Mariang Sinukuan and Bernardo Carpio.

ARMM votes today.
Democracy is at work as the Administrative Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) votes today. And based on initial reports, the election is going smoothly despite of clashes between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in North Cotabato.
Reports had it that all voting centers in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-tawi and Shariff Kabunsuan have opened and there are people queueing to vote.
This election will also put the automated election to the test as voters will use voting machines. Results of the automated polls are expected after 36 hours at the latest.
I do hope that this election will continue to go smoothly. I guess it’s high time for us to have a true, credible and peaceful election.

The Frisky.
I usually shy away from websites that has sex and dating as the central theme as I found the topic too sensitive. But then I realize that not all these websites are done in bad taste. A few are even good and entertaining. And it’s not all about sex and dating, topics are informative and in-depth.
I stumbled upon one website that is worth sharing. “The Frisky” ( a daily romp on the sexy side) is a website that puts modern dating, sex and relationships into an all new dimension. To top it all, it also features celebrity gossip and all that yummy stuff. It’s like reading your favorite men’s magazine at the comfort of your computer. LOL.
The Frisky also features Relationship Advice aside from sections on other topics like News and Culture, Celebrity, Food and Travel, Health and Beauty,. One particular section that draws my attention is the Sex Advice Column. Not that I personally need advice on this topic but it’s quite enjoyable to read the posts.
Another section that you should check out especially for women is the Hot Guys section. It features (of course!) hot guys and handsome hunks. Isn’t it nice for men as well to know what women consider as “hot” these days?

Viral Conjunctivitis aka Pink Eye
I’ve been contemplating on filing a vacation leave for a couple of days as I think i’ve earned myself a rest for all the stress and pressure from the office. Never did I imagine that the rest will come unexpected and unwelcome. Last week, I’ve had flu-like discomforts. I have colds, cough, mild fever and frequent headache. I also noticed increase amount of tears, itchiness and redness in the eye as well as blurred vision. I was told that this has got to do with the eye and somebody even warn me that I may have astigmatism which I immediately dismiss as I have a near 20-20 vision the last time I was checked.
It was Friday when I can no longer take it, I wasn’t able to go to the office. The next day I went to the nearest Eye Center and I was told that I have a viral conjunctivitis. The name is quite alarming but the doctor said there’s nothing to worry about it. Had he said sore eyes or pink eye, it would have made a better impact. The doctor prescribed topical steroid drops to reduce the discomfort from inflammation. He said it usually goes away within 3 weeks.
Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is an infection of the conjunctiva, the thin clear tissue over the white part of the eye. Conjunctivitis has a number of different causes, including viruses, bacteria, irritants such as shampoos, dirt, smoke, and pool chlorine or allergies like dust or pollen.
Conjunctivitis caused by some viruses and bacteria can spread easily but is not a serious health risk if diagnosed promptly. To avoid spreading the disease, take these precautions:
• Wash hands frequently
• Avoid swimming (bacterias can be spread in the water)
• Avoid touching the face
• Disinfect surfaces such as doorknobs and counters
• Don’t share towels or washcloths
• Do not reuse handkerchiefs (using a tissue is best)
• Avoid shaking hands
I still have it and I was already on sick leave for 3 days. Hopefully it will go away in the next couple of days. I want to be able to rest without this discomforts.

Erik Santos to perform at the Beijing Olympics
You may have heard this from elsewhere but this is a good news that deserves a space in this blog. I just learned from a friend that our very own Erik Santos, also dubbed as Prince of Pop, was chosen among selected foreign artists who will perform in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
It is said that he will sing during the closing ceremonies of the event. Based on reports, Erik was contacted by the Chinese Embassy through ABS-CBN to let him know that he was selected to sing. He is set to perform a different arrangement of songs “I Believe I Can Fly” and “This is the Moment”.
