Philippine mango certified as world’s biggest.

I was at the office this morning when I saw this report in Yahoo News.

A 3.5-kilo mango fruit from Iligan City Philippines was certified as the world’s biggest by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The mango which was a product of Sergio and Maria Socorro Bodiongan from the city in southern Philippines surpassed the 2.4-kilo mango from Canada.

It was last September when it was submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records. It also served as the highlight of the Sundayag activity spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 10 in Cagayan de Oro last year.

This recognition for the home-grown mango is certainly a feat for local agriculture.
