Amy Winehouse found dead


British singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her flat in north London, according to police. She was 27 years old.

The Grammy award-winning singer struggled with well-documented alcohol and drug addictions. Her death is being treated as unexplained.

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square shortly before 4:05 pm (1505 GMT) today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased," a police statement said.

According to reports, London Ambulance Service had been called to the singer’s flat at 3:54 pm (1454 GMT) and two ambulances were sent.

Winehouse rocketed to fame after winning five Grammy awards off the back of her 2006 second album "Back to Black" and made her the first British singer to win five Grammys including Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Let’s remember Amy for her contributions in the music industry. She had been credited for her influence in the rise in popularity of female musicians and soul singers.
