DZMM won 2 New York Festival awards

When I was still studying, I used to listen to AM radios while preparing to go to school. This is especially true when the weather is not good or there are storms in the country. Who knows? Classes may be suspended and I want to be the first to know… lol.

While most people would prefer watching Television or browsing the internet for daily news and entertainment, I still listens to AM radio from time to time mainly when I’m doing something else or I’m travelling. Anyway, if you want to get updated to what’s happening around the country, this is the fastest medium? Chances are, you will even be listening to one of top TV broadcaster in the land but this time on radio.

When it comes to AM radio, I’m a fan of DZMM. They offer the freshest news and the most sensible commentaries; they also have the most credible broadcasters like Ted Failon, Korina Sanchez anchoring their programs.

I recently heard this good news about my favorite radio station:
DZMM Radyo Patrol 630khz, the flagship AM radio station of ABS-CBN received two international honors last May from the New York Festivals International Radio Broadcasting Awards.

The 'Special Coverage of the Manila Hostage Drama' is a finalist in the Breaking News Story, while the science-oriented radio show "Bago Yan, Ah!" hosted by station manager Angelo Palmones is a finalist for the Talk Show Host category.

Just last year, the radio station also bagged the Best News category for Radio at the 2007 Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes held in Tehran besting more than 50 entries worldwide. This is in its continuing commitment to be Una sa Balita, Una sa Public Service.

According to the ABS-CBN news, Palmones is set to leave the country for the awards ceremony that will be held this coming June 19 at Tribeca Rooftop in New York.
